6800 GT PCIe: Which brand?

I'm looking into getting a 6800 GT (Along with just about everyone else on the planet, apparently) and I was wondering what would be the best brand to go with. I've heard that XFX has poor customer service and will not buy their card, but I've heard good things about eVGA and BFG... I just don't know if there's a difference, what it is, and whether or not it'd be worth it to get one card or the other. If you know of another decent brand, please recommend. I plan on purchasing soon (next few days) since everything's either out of stock or on backorder. Thanks for the help.

right now, the BFG from Chumbo.com is the best deal

$400, the eVGA i can only find for about $480

I may overclock, but I haven't decided yet. I assume by stock cooling you mean stock cooling on the video card, in which case the answer is yes. I dunno if I want to mess with that part of it. I'm thinking if I OC the CPU I can get a zalman fan or something like that, but like I said, haven't decided yet. What I think I'll do is build the system as if I were gonna overclock it, then at least that way I leave my options open.

How is the quality on the BFG vs the quality of the eVGA? I've seen some good reviews on the eVGA stuff in MaxPC, haven't heard anything on the BFG.

your first post looks pretty much right on the money..

here is another thread about 6800gt brands.
good luck to you in finding one of these beasts.

Best brands, in order of bestness:

1) Gainward
2) eVGA
3) LeadTek
4) BFG
5) MSI
6) Etc.

Just stay the hell away from PNY and you'll be fine.

I would take anything over a Leadtek. Have had bad experiences with there products. I have an Evga 6800gt and it has been running fine. I would agree with the order of Insomniak just get rid of leadtek.
