Um, windows doesn't do this already? That sure sucks.

Windows does have its own disk caching scheme, but I have no idea what Maxtor does that's different.

No offense but your post only shows that you didn't try it. This is a question witch has already been answer here. And the answer is : the Windows caching scheme sucks not this one.

I personnaly feel the difference on 3 main points:

First, huge soft like Premiere or Maya or 3DS.

Second, defragmentation software : I can watch DivX WHILE defragging !!!!

Third Multiple Streaming : I installed MaxBoost on a computer who is more a file backup/serving PC than anything else : Transfering one file from or to it is not faster but I try to transfer multiple file at the same time, it's really quicker.

This stuff is crazy : I tried to launch 3 Media Player, reading the same DivX and defragging at the same time...

It's working : average on 3 minutes are : 25fps (0 dropped frames) for 2 streams and 24.1 fps for the 3rd one while defragging the same drive!!!!

Very nice! I'm going to try this. Almost makes me glad that Maxtor currently houses my OS and programs.
