I still fire it up for VC and GC games everyonce in a while.

Same here... though I haven't used it for VC or GC games. I was in the middle of MP3 (and enjoying it), but then I got games like Warhawk, BioShock, Halo 3, PGR4, and The Orange Box and the Wii hasn't seen the light of day since. Actually, I did fire it up last week to get the update, but that's it. And with R&C Future coming next week and several other great titles in November it may be a while before the Wii gets used again. Though I suppose I'll check out Mario Galaxy, but I'm still a bit skeptical of the game. Mario Sunshine burned me and I don't care to have that happen again.

I always wonder how these statistics are derived. People tend to believe them too easily since they are numbers. In any case, if they are true then I wonder what these 67% of Wii owners are currently doing instead? My guess is probably playing many of the great PC games that have come out recently or maybe Halo 3 if they also own a 360. I'm sure that number will change once Mario Galaxy comes out in Nov. along with Smash Bros. in Febuary. This sort of thing always has its highs and lows depending on what games have recently come out. It's kind of like the difference between the summer months vs. the off season in Hollywood.

This is a great point about this past year in general. When was the last time that we had a year with so many great hit releases? I want to play them all, but I only have so much time. I normally buy hit titles the day of release, but I have not been able to do that as of late for this reason. I will be buying them in the future though when I finish the games I have.

Hey! At least their Wii still boots up! Officials have cited figures that suggest 87 percent of XBox 360 revision 1.0 and 1.1 owners can't use their system of late, due to thermal failures (of which the RROD is only one), and the other 13 percent of 360 owner are too afraid to use their system of late, due to eminent thermal failures.

...still playing with my Wee, waiting to buy my next XBox 360 until revision 1.3 is on the retailers shelves. My revision 1.0 got returned to the retailer long long ago, and revision 1.2 is only now starting to hit the shelves. I might as well buy a Wii instead, and play with that, instead. Wee!!! Oh, wait! Wii!!!

WOW!

I guess I'm really lucky since my X360 is still alive and kicking, playing all these new games
In fact, that's my problem - the games just keep coming without any feeling for my wallet.

Please stop, 360 games... be more considerate like the other Next gen console games
.... NOT!

Going OT, I really haven't used my PC to play any game these last 2-3 years.
Between the 360, Wii and PS3, my PC stands no chance (and where's SPORES???)

I still use the Wii daily. However recently all I do is check the Votes channel, and whatever VC game is added on Monday. When Galaxy is released I'm sure the Wii will get more use, until then I'm not sure. I still need to beat Zelda though. Surprisingly as great as that game is, it didn't grab my attention like a few others.

Wii Sports is great at first, but it gets old. Its still fun Multiplayer though. A online Wii Sports would be great though.

Even if the stats are true, it makes sense to me. The Wii is such a variable-appeal console that it may only get used for certain types of play for different households. My kids play it every week (Still playing Sports and Play) so it is played every other day usually but, we also like to play it when we have gatherings of people. BTW we are primarily PC gamers so the Wii is a nice distraction but, I am not a Halo3 kinda player as I would be lost without a keyboard and a mouse. So, Nintendo managed to get a console into my house that has stuck. I had an Xbox but sold it as the games were less interesting for us.

WTF! 67% equals three quarters??? That would be two thirds. I don't believe any story where the person who wrote it can't even do second grade math.

More people are probably playing games on the Wii than the PS3 or 360. People are watching movies on the PS3 and the 360s are being sent in for repair.

I haven't played it in at least 4 months. No real good games out for it other than Zelda. Every other game has been mediocre and I don't feel like playing an FPS on my Wii (sorry samus)

Ever since I unplugged my Wii from the wall four months ago, I havn't bothered plugging it in..... Now that Super Smash has been delayed, looks like it'll be a while.

I just sold mine after about a month of inactivity.

Got madden 08 on wii and 360 and there wasn't even a comparison.

Since Halo 3 No Wii for me!😀

My Wii was unplugged to make way for the HD-DVD add-on power plug for the 360 when I got my 360 back from warranty service, and it hasn't been plugged back in since. Even when it was plugged in, the only reason it saw any play was because I bought MP3 while my 360 was gone just to have something to play. In fact, this thread reminded me that I was going to sell the thing, I think I'll go ahead and put it on Craigslist to get ready for the cheaper PS3 coming in a couple of weeks.

There just isn't much that I want to do with the Wii. I dislike the controls, I dislike most all of the games I've played. Granted, it's proven to be a good time when I have company over, but that's only been once or twice. Galaxy and Smash Bros just isn't enough to keep me interested in the short term. After those two games, what are we looking forward to then? I know of quite a few games on the PS3 and 360 that I'm looking forward to all of next year, but the Wii has nothing for me that I can think of off the top of my head.

When I think about it, I'll get much more use out of just the blu-ray player on the PS3 than I will with everything on the Wii.

Still play alittle about 5-6 times a week. A good little workout when it is raining. The upper level tennis and boxing opponents are brutal! 🙂

I haven't played it because of my receiver... I didn't know there was a third audio input 😱 It usually gets a few hours a week, maybe a day or two of play time a month. If I can find GH3 for it, it might get its play time.

almost three quarters of
It would be far more precise to say almost 2/3, but it appears he was being very liberal in his interpretation of almost, but he did not say it was equal to three quarters.

Its because theres no good games. Isn't it because Nintendo has that stupid thing where no 3rd parties can release games or some like that? People say graphics have nothing to do with it, but if you've played a 360 and a Wii, its really hard to go back to the Wii after running on the 360 graphics.

huhhhhh?

Totally agreed. I had my Wii since launch and it was the only system i had at the time. Played and beat Zelda and RE4, downloaded some old VC games, then i started Metroid. Right after i started Metroid about 2 weeks ago i picked up a PS3 with Resistance and Fight Night 3 and i haven't touched my wii since. I showed my friend the ending to RE4 the other day and that looks like crap since i switched. The Wii looks like garbage compared to 360 and PS3, i cant see it lasting that long with 360 and PS3 prices dropping like crazy. If you have a HDTV the choice is clear

QFT! I bought 2 systems, one to keep, and one to sell right before Christmas. I'm counting on the one I sell right before Christmas to pay off the one I'm keeping...if it doesn't, I'll probably pawn off the one I have now for a 360.

Main drawbacks for me are:

1) HD Support - They could at least went with 720p support, Metroid is one of the best looking Wii games quoted by IGN and im not impressed even when Wii was my only console.
2) Games - Took about a year for a very few top rated games to come out (similar to ps3 though)
3) No Nintendo Branded Rechargable Battery Packs - There's a couple of cheapo 3rd Party solutions, but other than that buying batteries clearly sucks
4) Lack of Online Support (Multiplayer and Demos) - If Metroid was multiplayer i think they would of had a winner. Also Guitar Hero 3 has no downloadable add-ons. One good thing i liked about PS3/360 is the game demo downloads, the try before you buy is a smart decision of not wasting $50-60 on a game that you dont like. This also leads to no hard drive support.
5) No DVD video or CD/MP3 Audio support - Not really a huge thing with me but with it being a really compact console, its ideal for someone that doesn't have the room.

Wii - $250 with Wii Sports
PS3 40gb - $400 with Spiderman3
360 Pro 20gb - $350 with 2 Games

The extra $100-150 is definitly worth it

This is the same complaint I hear over and over and everyone lists the same games that they enjoyed playing on the Wii. I can relate because I am a gamer with similar tastes and these are the games I will enjoy the most. However, what you guys need to realize is that for once we are not the target consumer. Therefore, we will most likely view a lot of the Wii games to be lacking quality. However, sales figures suggest that they are successful and I am sure we will see more figures which will support them after Christmas. A lot of people enjoy the games that we do not believe to be any good.

Personally, I enjoy many of those games, but I bought my Wii for the few favorites that every here is listing. Those few games plus the semi-frequent use of the Wii for the other stuff was well worth the money to me. My PC and 360 supply all of my other desires. I have no regrets.

Hmm good point. I got my Wii for free so I wont' complain and personally I love the Zelda series. But thats about the only title I'll play on the Wii right now.

I camped out for sixteen hours for the Wii on the eve of the launch last year. I thought I finally found a system my wife and I would enjoy and heavily use.

Boy, was I wrong.

I played it for several months, but the novelty wore off pretty quick and the games just got boring for me. I bought it as a "fun" console so a group of us can have fun with it, but it just seems like no one cares to play it anymore. Not sure what it is, but I just don't even feel like turning it on anymore (and it hasn't been on for a few months).

Then I decided to get a 360 about a month and a half ago. All I have to say is, wow. Worlds different and more advanced. I thought I was just gonna buy it for myself since it had a more mature game title line to it, but my wife plays it as much as I do (Lego Star Wars, some racing games, etc.). The online dashboard system is great too, with so many features that just seem to work seamlessly. Currently, I've been playing a significant amount of Crackdown, which is amazing in itself.

Furthermore, I grew up with Nintendo in my life and loved Mario as much as the other kid. I just don't know what it is this time around, but I just feel like my initiative to play anymore is not there.
