I want to spend under $200 on a vid card. I can either buy a 9800pro here on anandtech used w/upgraded cooling and flashed ot xt spds possibly or buy a 6600gt on Newegg...the prices have come down recently...

What do you think? 6600gt or 9800pro? If I would go for the 6600gt is the performance gain worth the extra $20-30 or so? What about NewEgg Refurb anyone have any experience with that? And the most important question which brand of 6600gt should I get thanks.

The comments by people that have used both cards and can compare would be appreciated most. Thanks.

Need this for an A64 rig (agp of course).

6600GT seems to be faster than the PRO. Some of the pro models are 3billion texels/sec, the 6600GT is typically 4billion.

I would go with the 6600GT as long as you get a good one with 256mb of fast ram and good cooling on it as std euipment. Even a 9800pro with an R360 core and flashed to an XT still lacks the 256mb of ram, unless of course you get the 256mb vers.

Thanks, I'm still confused as to what the guy above meant by the 256 meg version I don't see any forsale anywhere?

Second question maybe a possibly stupid one: The radeon a card with a 128megs and 256bits is outperformed by another card with the same amount of memory and only 128bits does the difference lie in the gpu then? And also what brand should I get of the 6600gt thanks a bunch again.
