Hey everyone. Well i bought a 6600gt a few weeks ago. Under the nvidia display driver settings, i had the comptuer detect the ideal clock speed for overclocking.

THe stock is

500 Core

1 gig memory

After detecting, it set as follows

550 core roughly

1.16 gig memory.

Do these settings sound a bit much?

I noticed today that when i play BF2 with both overclocked and stock settings my gpu is peaking out at about 85 C temp. This seems a bit high no?

Also, is it possible that turning these settings UP can actually cause performance to go DOWN? (I don't mean fps wise, but when i play at stock and also overclocked settings the game runs smoothly at first but gradually becomes kindof jittery.) Is this because of the temp being so high?

Lots of questions, hopefully lots of answers. Thanks in advance. :)

sounds like the card is becoming unstable as it heats up. 500 and 1000 are correct for the 6600gt. Iam not sure how much they can be OC'ed. Havn't tryed mine.

ocing a vid card is never a good idea imo. The performance gain is minimal, and it voids the warranty as well as potentially killing the card. If you want performance, you get a CPU to overclock. :p
