So, I'm getting ready to jump on the Oblivion bandwagon (now that it has sufficiently passed) and I'm wondering whether or not my 6600gt will be able to handle the game. I don't need everything maxed out, and obviously, I don't expect to be able to get even half the detail level that most people would play this game at. I've seen some reviews that claim the 6600gt can run it just fine, and I've seen some screenshots that look pretty good, but I want some real-life experiences. Anyone whose played Oblivion on a similar card to the 6600gt chime in and let me know what you think.

System Specs

P4 2.8
1.5 GB Corsair PC3200
6600gt AGP With Zalman AlCu VF-700 Able to OC to 600/1150 if needed.

It'll handle it pretty well. My X600 Pro runs it at medium but I put Specular Distance all the way up. It's at 640x480, however. (Can't wait for my 7950gt) The 6600gt is better than mine, so you should do all right.

i have a similar setup
3200+ 64
1 gig of pc3200 ram

and i run oblivion acceptably (15-25 outside, 20-40 inside) at 1280x1024 but with shadows turned off, bloom, no AA, and max view distance
if you run it at 1024x768 i'm sure you could get even better frames or turn on AA or shadows

i have a a p4 3 ghz, 1.5 gb ram, and a 6800gs overclocked to 500/1200. It runs Not bad (considering the high requirements for the game.) although outside it drops to about 20 fps...with 1680x1050 res :D (i cant turn down the res, i just cant make myself do it)

I have a 6600gt as well, runs great at 1280x1024 with some candy turned off, still looks great!

it may be what you wanted to "hear" but it really 'depends'.
:Q

What's your resolution?

-- if it's over 10x7 then 'not so good' -- especially IF you see Oblivion run on a fast system
[seriously ... you are around the "minimum" requirements] :p

the biggest single improvement [beside disabling ALL shadows] is to turn Grass "off";)

Yeah, 1024x768 is what I'll be running the game at. I know that these are pretty minimum specs, but I can turn details down for the time being, especially if the gameplay is good.
