6600GT AGP problems

Could anyone tell me that a 6600gt can be use in AGP4x slot? Cause my brother computer is quite old.If it can, will the performance drop a lot? Thanks for your heip!

depends more on other factors like ram/fsb/cpu he's running, but as it the mobo is quite old it would probably drop some performance.

about performance of it vs that system:
recommended would be 1gig pc3200 ram running at full speed sync fsb for best performance out of that card.
with less performance would still be good but lacking at times cause your system bottleneck.

about the agp4x:
I've read about some people having problems running the agp 6600GT but it seems it is more because of older chipsets being partially incompatible with that last gen card. apart from that it seems performance doesn't suffer a lot.

btw beware of using that card on older non nforce chipsets!! google on your mobo and 6600GT and look up any compatibility lists or problems

Also, check the AGP slot itself.
If it has NO NOTCH, it may work (check for AGP 4x, and IIRC, 1.5v AGP voltage).
If it does have a notch, make sure it is in the same position as the card's space.
