i just did that 3dmark tes and i got a 3358 with:
PNY 6600GT (OC'ed to 540/1002)
Anthlon 64 3400+ (2.4 ghz, socket 754)
1 gig of ram (ddr3200)

however i did the compare on the Future mark website and other people's 6600GT with similar system but slightly more overclocked got scores in the 7000's

what is up with that

sli systems with probably all settings for image quality in drivers set to absolute lowest and oced is the reason for the 7k scores.

newer are usually tweaked yto be faster. though they might be using 3rd party further tweaked drivers like DNA or Omega.

thanks one last question

i overclocked this card with only a 300W power supply
will that screw up the card (its running fine now but i haven't played any games yet)

try some games, if you dont have enough power, the pc will freez or shut down. no permanant damage to card though unless your psu cant hold the voltage close to 12V and therefore supplies say11.5v. then you have a problem. what;s the +12v rail no the psu and what are the complete sysytem specs?

i had a 4100 on my 6600gt overclocked to 580/1120 on a 2.6ghz a64 winchester... ur scores are low.. I was using 71.20 drivers.

i just checked the temps and they are high (60 not under load)

so i set the speeds back to the stock 500/900
i ran 3dmark again an got a score 200 points lower, will that affect gaming and performance in any way?

A score of 200 points lower will probably translate to .5-1 frame less in your games. Even if you oc'ed it to what you had it at, you probably would not notice any benefit in your games.

On a side note, RTHDRIBL is good for straining your card for prolonged periods of time to check for stability and temps. If you want lower temps, get a NV Silencer 6 Rev.2 or a Zalman (forgot which model works best, I think VF700).

BTW, 3dmark 05 score in my sig.

how hot do yours run

i'm getting worried about the temp (59-60 at idle)

how hot does it have to get for some serious damage to occur

just in case

anyone know if the PNY 6600GT AGP comes with a lifetime warranty?
so i can OC it an then if i burns out i can RMA it 🙂

i don't know about PNY's warranty, but for any card manufacturer (except for evga) OC will void your warranty. and RMAing after your card burned is another thing. most people will tell you it's wrong, but i know lot's of people who are doing it. in the end, it's up to you.

1. ony means lifetime of the product. once pny stops making 6600gts, and it goes off the shelves, they no longer have ot honor a warranty. read the fine print later. nevcer buy older pny cards like your 6600gt. your warranty period will be rather short.
2. ocing should bever burn out the card unless you are extremely moronic. you'd have to raise the voltage to really do any damage unless say you tried ot get it runningf at something like 800mhz core.
3. RMA is a no go since warranty is void and if you do decide to ,it creates problems like higher price and tougher rmas for all the rest of us with real problems.

IMHO your score is a bit low...with one 6600GT I scored like 4500...well...insanely overclocked to 610/1305, but ok...I don't know about the effects of dual channel ram, but you should get into the high 3000's with your setup...

Yup, all scores of 6600GTs in the 7000's are due to overclocked SLI setups...I also contributed one...

i brought the speeds down to stock and i probably wouldn't RMA it if i did OC and it got f'ed

i think my score is low cause my mobo isn't that good, i basically just got a compaq with a 3400 and added ram and a video card (and another hard drive, and some fore optical drives) also i think my puny 300W power supply is limiting the card

yeah and what resolution did you guys run the test at?
and what drivers? (i was using the latest and on the results if said that it wasn't WHQL certified or something)

use latest nonbeta. 81.85 are latest official i think. 1024x768 default is what everyone runs at.

I get 4055 on my 6600GT, and I have a slower system than you. Of course, mine is OC'ed to 615/1255 (i have a zalman cooler)

EDIT: I ran with everything at default.

hmm you guys think mine is screwed up?

i'm thinking about sending it back (partly because of the High temps)

any thoughts
