6600 Overclock

I took my Gigabyte 6600 PCI-e from 300/550 to 575/575. Was this a good OC? I got 3064 on in 3dmark05.

Edit: Done overclocking, 575/675. 3405 in 3dmark05.

That's an amazing overclock! Is it on stock cooling?
And you should run 3dmark05 at 1024x768 to compare your score with other systems.

Same here. I got the gigabyte 6600 as a refurb on newegg and took it right away to 550/700 and it ran stable, but a little hot. I game at 550/675 to be safe with no issues and got a huge FPS gain over stock speeds. Read some other reviews on the card that got it up in this range as well which is the reason I went so aggressive right off the bat. Seems the gigabyte 6600 could somehow have better memory chips.

Wow, that's not bad at all considering you can get these cards for as low as $67 refurbed at newegg. I get around 3600 3dmarks on my stock 6800nu that I paid $150 for - although that's with an amd xp 2.2ghz.

what is the highest safe overclock for a 6600? i would think it can go to 500 on the core because its the same cooler and gpu as the 6600gt. but mem... i don't know.

Use rthdribl to look for artifacts - you have to look for them yourself, it doesnt scan for them automatically. If you see any, then you know you know you're pushing it too hard. Other than that, go as high as you can on the OC, the 6600 vanilla cards OC really well in general.

so my friend who is the one oc'ing can go to 500 on the core with a stock cooler? how high can the memory go to, i would think 700 because that is what 6800nu cards are at.
