6600 GT (128MB) vs X700 (256MB)

I've decided to get one of these new mid-stream cards, and I need some advice. The 6600 GT with 128 MB seems to be priced about the same as the X700 256 MB, and I haven't been able to find any benchmarks comparing the two. Also, are all X700s Pros? That's all they list for em on Newegg.

Thanks for any help

There should be plenty of benchmarks comparing the two, even at lil' old Anandtech. You can start with TechReport.com's X700 review, and this new FS FC 1.3 article. Toss in this comprehensive HW.fr review for good measure. I'd take a 6600GT over an equally-priced X700P, as I'd choose speed over extra memory almost every time.

BTW, a 6600GT should up your 3DM03 score quite nicely. 🙂

Edit: BTW, if you're talking about AGP cards, consider a 6800, too. It's faster than a 6600GT, and you can find it for as little as $250 occasionally. Consult the Hot Deals forum for a nice 6800 + FC + HL2 deal going on at Best Buy.
