Awesome game for anyone who doesn't own it. I've poured at least 220 hours into it and that's on the low end for a lot of players.

I haven't followed gaming too much so how is this game? RPG? Shooter? Both? I would not mind an open ended/adventure type of game.

Thanks.

Borderlands and BL2 are great games. RPG/Shooter hybrid with a funny story line and characters, some WTF moments and basically a hell of a lot of fun.

Pick up the original Borderlands GOTY edition - it's often available for $7.49, and the Game Of the Year edition includes all the DLC.

If you like that, keep an eye out for BL2 when it goes back on sale.

Great advice. BL 1 has (IMHO) better solo gameplay. BL 2 has a much better story, but it depends on the characters and events in BL1 so you need to have played it for the story to fully work.

I am not knocking the game (I haven't played it), but looking at PC gameplay of this on youtube, it looks cartoon-ish. Is that accurate, or is that a mis-characterization of the graphics?

Novelty of the cell-shaded look got old after the 1st playthrough. Strong dark borders can be turned off with an .ini file edit for BL1 (likely BL2 as well).

Co-op works offline on a LAN (BL1 at least), a rarity these days.

GOTY Borderlands 2 is due out this month, isn't it?

I never minded the cel-shaded graphics. Most people get used to it, and it blends very nicely into the transitions when you hit story points.

I picked it up in the Summer Sale for the same price...have only put a couple hours into it as FTB Ultimate takes up most of my gaming time, but it's a steal at $10
