650 vs 750

Hi Guys,
My current PSU is broken. Currently rocking a 750 watt with a i5 2500k @ 4.4 GHz on a AsRock z68 gen3 with 8 gb
And a 1080 EVGA

Upgrading within a half Year to a new i7 8600k and liquid cooling (nzxt x64)

Was wondering whether a 650x of corsair is enough, gold certificate

And why not buy a 750 just to be sure? Does this affect the electricity bill?

Thanks!

I'd get the 750W, personally. 1080/ti-class GPUs do take a bit of power, as does an overclocked i5 @ 4.4Ghz.

That said, I would doubt that you would exceed 500-550W of average usage, but a little headroom doesn't hurt much. You would still be in the median efficiency curve area.

Thank you! How does the difference between a 650 and a 750 affect the electricity bill?

And would there be any issues regardig a new PSU and a 8 year old motherboard?

Shouldn't affect it at all.

Shouldn't be.

If you were only going to be drawing 100W, then yes, there could be a slight difference in power consumption between 650W and 750W, as you would be on different spots on the efficiency curve.

And if you had a really older mobo, like a Pentium 4 or Athlon XP, then yes, there could be PSU compatibility issues.

But your system is modern enough, that there should be no issues.
