Almost all by Ryzen's do 3800/1900 at 1TI just hope the IF is strong with the one I get. Give me 1900 + 1:1!
But is the 15% performance gain on 1080p only or does it improve 1440p and 4k performance as well. Once you get over 1080p the newest CPU's are all the same. The other point of contention is what will intel release to counter any Zen 3 offerings. You can't really overclock Zen 3 all that well to begin with. Sure you can feed it a lot more power, but the gains are minimal and not really worth the effort.
AMD had already given some actual results and we know that the 15% performance figure is already accounting for the lower clock speed.

Forgive my ignorance, whats GDM ? and most of mine are single rank ? 8 gig sticks ?Not mine.
Are you running GDM disabled with 1T at 1900:3800 with dual rank? I wish I could

On Ryzen, I have never heard of GDM, just the 1T/2T command rate. All of mine are verified at 1T. On my 12700F however, I was in 1T, but geardown mode over 3200 kicked in, and I had to lower it to 3200. It's a hard wall for Alder lake at 3200, but not for Ryzen, not sure the hard wall for them.I can't select specific text to italicize, wtf

Well, like I did with my Alder lake, I will have to do more testing. What is the easiest way to tell if its in gear down mode ???? I always thought CPUZ was king, but it did not show it for Alder lake, I had to run benchmarks. And after this ignore my comments that they all run 3800/1900. Thats only assuming GDM did not kick in..Here's a little more about Gear Down Mode, Timings, etc.
Memory OC Showdown: Frequency vs. Memory Timings
The release of AGESA 1.0.0.6 to mobo makers has resulted in a wave of fresh BIOS updates, each one packed with tons of new options for tweaking and overclocking memory.1 With so many options at your disposal, some have understandably asked: “what are the optimal settings for games?” Never one to...web.archive.org
The highest I can run GDM disabled with my dual rank kit (2x16) is 1333:2666 with simple voltage changes, after that it's a huge mystery. The memory latency is huge at 1333 but input delay is extremely low. Latency is around 80ns @ 1333, with my current 1833:3666 speed memory latency is around 55ns
EDIT: my gaming rig's highest IF stable speed is 3733 (5800X)

Why is it, you can't just buy memory thats runs at a speed, and call it good ?
Just something that ticks me off.

Problem... Most of my boxes are linux. Also, even if its enabled, is it currently being used (is it on) ????When I upgraded to Ryzen it took me a while before I learned about GDM. I spent 10+yrs with an X58 rig and never knew GDM was a thing, lol
Download Zen Timings to see your settings. It's pretty comprehensive. Here's a screen shot of mine.

EDIT: Also tells you the PCB DRAM revision, and the Rank at the bottom of the pic. A2 = PCB DRAM Revision, (16GB, DR)

Here is the box I am posting from, one of the few Windows boxes

I don't game. How do I tell by software ?Yes it's being used. You can tell the difference when gaming right away between 1T GDM disabled vs 1T GDM enabled.

It 100% depends on the type of the SKU itself and without information coming straight from the company, you could never tell - but that has nothing to do with AMD, it's the same with any vendor. When AMD launches an SKU, how many units are we talking about? Thousands? Hundreds of thousands? Or in the millions?
That's what I do all the time. :-DWhy is it, you can't just buy memory thats runs at a speed, and call it good ?
