Cinebench is possibly the worst case scenario for Alder Lake power consumption. In gaming and other common workloads, Alder Lake doesn't fare as bad as it does in Cinebench. The reason seems to be that Intel hasn't figured out how to design power efficient AVX units.

IPC should be measured at the intended operating frequency, not some arbitrary low frequency like 2.4 or 3.5 GHz. That is because when you artificially lower frequency the CPU is not stalling on memory any more. In essence the CPU is supposed to do "other things" while executing an instruction that is waiting for cache miss data; when you artificially lower the frequency, things like the size of caches come into play.But here, 12900K suffers the worse latency of DDR5, no?
