incidently, i can run any game fine on my 32 mb original radeon...so i don't really see what all the fuss is about here. And no...that's not at 1600x1200 with max AA and AF either....but those things do nothing for me visually so I don't really care...and neither should you unless you've won powerball recently...

railer, high res looks nice! I pity anyone who can't see the difference between 1600x1200 and say... 800x600. I do agree that AA is useless, though.

I cant see any difference between 1024/768 and 1600/1200 in games, 64 mb will run 1024/768 very well.

hmm...never tried 1600x1200. I usually run 1024x768. I can tell the diff between 640x480 and 800x600 tho...:)

Sharky did a review of the TI 4200 64 meg vs 128 meg. The 64 meg did great in everything but the highest resolutions, and even then there wasn't a difference that you could notice from the seat of your pants.

The faster memory of the GeForce4 Ti 4200 64-MB is still too much for the 128-MB versions, as most current games simply don't require the extra memory. This can change at higher resolutions, as we see in Jedi Knight II, and you can be sure that there are games coming out very soon that will push that number even higher.

I still wouldn't pay too much extra for a 128 meg card. I don't believe in "future proofing".

Wow, you must be in sales.
I'm not.

Sales people like to use marketing and glamour tactics to sell you things that you really don't need. I stick to facts and logic instead.

If a person is happy with their setup, why show them some numbers of what they could bench when they are satisfied with what they currently have?
Because they might be satisfied only because they've seen nothing better. For example:

-Everyone was satisfied with horses and carriages until they tried cars.
-Everyone liked propeller driven planes until jet engines came along.

What does v-sync do?
Basically it limits the framerate to the monitor's current refresh rate.

If you plan on keeping your vid card for the next 3 years, get the 128 megger. If you're like a normal person around here, or if you play at extremely high resolutions, save your $22.

No geforce 4 4200 kills a radeon 8500 128mb unless you hadn't updated your radeon drivers since launch.
