64MB ATI RADEON ONLY $288!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will ATI make a 64MB SDR card? The description doesn't state what ram this is.

update...I checked...they only make a DDR version, retails for 399. Sounds like a good deal if true or maybe just go get a Geforce MX or rather 2 for that price.

Atomics, yeah there's a couple $25 dollar off coupons floating around for onvia, AND you can get %10 off by using pointlclick so that would be well under the 288.

5% off is available for egghead (at least for First USA, Bank One, and WingspanBank VISA holders). Go to Firstusa.com and click on the First USA Connections link.

Trust me, coming from a long-time ATI owner (specifically, the Rage Fury). ATI has always had great hardware. Their drivers and software support really suck. They never released proper drivers (only betas) for the Rage Fury, Rage Fury Pro, and Rage Fury MAXX. They have stopped driver development on the MAXX and basically screw customers at every opportunity.

ATI is suck.

I agree that ATI drivers is suck.
I own the All-In-Wonder 128, which has MPEG-2 DVD compression hardware (MPEG-2 encoding, not just decoding), but they did not even bother to develop software to allow compression from AVI (uncompressed capture) to MPEG-2 (DVD compression). Not even an alpha or a beta software! nothing! zip! nada! Those lazy bums!

I'm with you on that one SwizzleSt. ATI drivers blow. I have had a Rage Fury since they first came out. Really poor support. Hard to figure out how they are one of the top graphics card companies. But relief is in site, just ordered a GeForce 2.

I can also confirm that ATI drivers have sucked in the past, but then again, this is their first leading 3d card, they are caturing to a new kind of customer, one that requires performance, I'd guess that they will be better with their future driver support.

The only reason ATI is the best selling graphics company is the OEM market. They sell bundles to Dell, etc and make out like bandits. They slouch off poor drivers and lousy tech support and make out good. Just because they are the best selling doesn't mean it's the best.

Kinda like the late-90's Ford Taurus. It sucked, and Ford knows it (at least that's what my Ford technician tells me), but since they had all the rental contracts, it became a "best selling" vehicle.

Ugg. No thanks, I'll stay away from ATI and their drivers.

Yea at these prices the Radeon SHOULD sell good except ATI has dug their own grave with their previous support. Their Rage Fury MAXX drivers screwed up my comp and the newest ones still suck. I won't be buying the Radeon. Even the Geforce MX is better IMO.

Silent - have you tried looking at benchmarks? It beats a G2 in 32 bit color by a large margin. I will agree with you at least on the driver part (that and the SDR barely trails the Radeon in 16 bit color)

No one has this thing in stock, Upgrade Source said it would prob be Aug before there's got in. I wonder who has one of these guys in....

RagingBITCH, What benchmarks have you been looking at? GeForce2 beats the Radeon in 16-bit all the time and the Radeon is better than the GeForce2 in 32-bit only by a few fps. I don't think a couple of fps will persuade me to buy a Radeon and fight with the drivers and bad support. The price, on the other hand, is very good considering that you get good performance, built-in DVD decoder, and ViVo all for under $300. Still, I am going to wait and see if ATI can turn themselves around with some good driver support.

I love ATI, i have a Rage Fury. I use it to play dvds on my TV, Very clean tv out quality running through my vcr with the macrovision hack.
