> It actually says Manufacturer: GENETIC

^ apparently now memory DOES grow on trees :)

Great deal if you don't mind dealing with Rakuten.

Well, Google offered transaction protection for free as I checked out. So if it's crap I'll just make use of it.

There are a ton of those on Amazon for the same price, but a lot of people are complaining they corrupt your data.

Usually really cheap memory is just low capacity made to look like larger capacity -- so when you write data to it that is more than it's real capacity, it starts corrupting/dropping the data.

Have you had any issues with them? I've ordered from them a few times since the Buy.com buyout without any problems.

Rakuten, for months, perhaps more than a year, was feeding credit card numbers to the black market. All of their "official investigations" turned up nothing, but people were victimized on Virtual numbers that were only used at Rakuten. Likewise, people who rarely used their cards found only one common denominator - they used their cards with Rakuten, and a few weeks later, saw a small fraudulent charge, followed by VERY large fraudulent charges.

Another twist was that V.me transactions, once thought to be as safe as PayPal, were leading to fraud - it turns out, Visa would send the CC# and info when a vendor requested it (which, of course, Rakuten did, for whatever reasons).

Strangely, the biggest credit card fraud story ever, perpetrated by the company itself or some very highly placed insiders, has never even been a blip on the news radar, while Target's infamous 2 month incident seems to still have legs today.

There's even an entire website devoted to covering Rakuten's Credit Card Fraud.

There's no upside shopping at rakuten. Either you get screwed and you have to try and return the product wasting your time or it actually is what you ordered and you have supported a really crappy company.

Because I already didn't trust Rakuten, I paid with PayPal. And second; yes these mSDs are crap. I was able to format to full capacity and write a full 60GBs of data, but almost none of it was actually readable afterwards.

I bought one of these and received it in a couple of days...shipped from Las Vegas.
It was completely unusable. Recognized but could not write to it or format it. Tried in several devices with same results. It was also recognized as a 30.5 GB not 64 GB. Asked for a return and they were pretty quick to send an RMA label. Thinnest card I have ever seen. The full size SD adapter is also junk. The actual card would not even fit into it ! Sold as class 10, no class marking on card. Since it would not work no idea of speed but highly doubt it. Card has no markings or name printed on it at all. Haven't received a refund or replacement so far. Sure would not recommend at any price.

Reminds me of some programs back in the late 80s that claimed to make your floppy disks hold more information (like they formatted 360KB floppies as if they were 720 if I remember correctly). Funny thing is, they actually sort of worked, if you didn't care about reliability. You could more or less store 500-600KB in a 360KB floppy, with varying degrees of success.

Honestly rakuten should be banned as a hotdeal.

these negative posts are off track, but since they are here, i want to respond. in the April 2013 timeframe, my credit card got compromised. i use it everywhere, so it might be related to rakuten. but, afterwards, i have made 16 orders with Rakuten with no problems. whatever problem they had with credit cards is probably resolved (for now until the next breach, insider compromise, etc.) per forbes, rakuten's revenue is over US$5 billion. i can't imagine them intentionally feeding credit card numbers to the black market.

I don't know about them selling credit cards, they just have substandard business practices and security. If you don't care about that go ahead I guess, but just keep in mind that the best way to make your voice heard in a capitalist economy is with your wallet. This is the wrong forum for this discussion though.

I got my card, it's definitely funky! After reading the above post about incorrect formatting tricks, I can confirm. I copied ~9GB of data to the card and windows reported the card as using 30GB. For $14 it's not worth returning - I'll just use it for random crap and say "lesson learned".

Also, Rakuten was not the seller - it was a third party thought Rakuten.

I've purchased from Buy.com without issues in the past, but never bought anything from Rakuten. Thanks to this thread, I'll keep my distance.

Google had Rakuten refund me in full on my order. Only took one e-mail and a few days wait. Doesn't appear that I have to bother returning the thing either.

If you email the seller they will email you a return RMA label for free shipping. I did and they were nice and quick about it.....refund or replacement card your choice. Not bad.
