64-Bit Vista, Time to move up?

I received a free copy of Vista Ultimate 64-bit via the Windows Feedback program. Since I already had 32-bit Vista Hum Premium I placed it in my box to save. How are 64-bit drivers coming along?

I have an Nvidia 590 SLI Motherboard, Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum, Nvidia 9600 GT, processor is an Athlon X2 4200+. I'm probably gonna pop a 6000+ in my motherboard soon since it is so cheap, and grab another 2 gigs of ram (4 gig total).

Is it worth switching to the 64-bit edition?

Also, I play Warcraft like a madman, so that has to work

Make sure you can get 64bit drivers for your devices, I'd be most worried about the mobo, I'm not sure if it's supported.

Why move up? Dual boot is the way to go.

Unless you are getting a whole new pc I dont see the need for a O/S upgrade but if you want to run 4Gb RAM you'll need to to get its use. Thing is you dont need 4Gb RAM to play today's games. 2-3 GB is plenty.

There are 64-bit drivers for it on Nvidias site.

Yep it works fine, I played WoW on Vista x64 from Jan 2007 to july 2007,no issues I can think of.

One tip is to make sure you install latest DX9.0c(June 2008) as it does not come up via Windows Update on Vista ,its for Vista as well as XP etc..

Make sure you get SP1 and Search 4.0, those are the biggies so far.

You just do, I'm not sure why. The Spore Creature Creator demo required it, and I had to download it from MSs site. I ran into that with 1 other game also, but I can't remember which.

It comes with DX10 but DX9.0c part is older in Vista,so that part (DX9.0c)gets updated to latest version, some games require newer versions of DX9.0c for Vista like demo of The Witcher for example,plus as it says below security,performance updates etc...
