64-bit Flash Player 10 for Linux

Just tried YouTube on 64-bit Firefox in Ubuntu Hardy and it worked fine. Haven't tried it yet on Opera, though (which is what I normally use).

It's nice to know that Adobe is going to have a 64-bit Linux Flash Player. I was pissed to find out that Flash PLayer 10 was only for 32-bit Ubuntu, and I had to use a script found on the forums just to get it to work.

really? i installed flash on ubuntu 64 without a problem to start with.
ill toy around with the 64-bit version sometime, the performance as it is now is horrible.

If it weren't for wine, I'd be able to eliminate all 32-bit compatibility wrappers.

I was so happy to get rid of nspluginwrapper. Haven't had a single stall or crash in Firefox since.

I've been running it for some time now. Works beautifully.

Felt good to ditch the 32-bit wrapper and the sound libraries.

No, maybe gnash but flash has never worked without kilz script until now.

i just installed the flash 10 alpha the other day (i had forgotten about it) and it seems to work well enough.i havent tried to stress it with several videos at once...even when paused it used to slow my system to a crawl, but it works and hasnt crashed so im happy

I'm new to Ubuntu (I have 8.10 64bit). How do I install this?

The release version wont install because I have x64, so I downloaded the x64 .so file, but what do I do with it?

Installing things still confuses me a bit in Linux...

you copy the .so to /usr/lib/firefox/plugins

do the same if you happen to use opera. may want to add it to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins as well, im not sure if it matters, i did both *shrug*

Hm, I tried that and I think it worked, but youtube videos are playing through Gnash instead of Flash...

I guess it doesn't really matter, unless flash gets better performance.

FINALLY got it to work. I had to delete all the other random flash plugins in mozilla/plugins and firefox/plugins. Plays better than Gnash or whatever it was using before.

I still have npwrapper.libflashplayer.so in my firefox/plugins folder, so I just got rid of it with the sudo rm command. Youtube still works, so I guess all is well...

You should probably uninstall gnash and ndiswrapper via apt properly instead of just randomly deleting files...
