That's all I can get, something seems to be off.
The hard drives are a 40 gig Maxtor and a 40 gig Seagate on an Epox 8K7A.
The source is only using 15/40 gigs and is NTFS.
I've tried Seagate/Master and Maxtor/Slave on IDE 1 as well as the reverse.
I tried Seagate/Master on IDE 1 and Maxtor/Master on IDE 2.
I am using brand new IDE cables.
Any known issues I've missed. It doesn't seem right to take 6 hours for a simple disk cloning. I could install WinXP and all my Apps and games manually in less time.

Thanks

Some things for you to check: Are your hard drives set up properly in the BIOS to use UDMA? Do you have the latest motherboard chipset drivers installed? Do you have the IDE busmastering drivers installed? In XP, is the transfer mode for your hard drives set to DMA Mode 5 (ATA 100) vice PIO mode? All of these can affect your data transfer rate.

I have two Maxtor ATA 100 drives, a 40 gig and a 20 gig, both on the same IDE channel. With Norton Ghost 2002, I get a data transfer rate of around 256 mb. I can image 12 gb from the 40 gig drive to the 20 gig drive in about 35 minutes.

Yes

I forgot to mention that this is being done from a floppy, none of those should apply, should they?

I ended up letting it run and it took close to 4 hours to transfer. I'll have to fool around with it for a bit more and also see if there is the same problem with Ghost.

Thanks for the reply.
