60G maxtor on sale for $110

Looks nice. How much did they charge you for shipping? This is the retail version, right? I didn't see any mention on the site about this so would assume retail. thanks

Has anyone bought anything from this site? i think i read in another thread that they are still waiting for something they bought 2 months ago...

I placed an order for the 60gb maxtor with them last wedneday before reading about it here:
Link

After reading about them I have been trying unsuccessfully to contact them to verify that they will ship the item in a timely fashion - the email confirmation I received from them said it would ship in 4-7 days.

They did not respond to any of my multiple emails (once per day), my telephone calls (during business hours) today were met with either a generic recording telling you to leave your name & number or another message that said that due to everyone in the office having the flu no one will be around until friday the 29th to handle orders (!?!).

I also noted that my credit card was charged on the day I placed the order.

If I don't hear from them by next monday I will probably start the process of contesting the charge with the credit card company.

If you check out yahoo shopping (which handles their order processing) they are no longer listed as a vendor - I read somewhere thats because of all the complaints against them.

Frankly I don't see how it benefits them to waste everyones time since they are going to have to eat the charge-back for orders they arent filling - I'd really like to get the on the phone to see whats up but that doesn't seem likely. Oh well, time to find a drive elsewhere I guess.

I just brought a maxtor 60gb 5400 rpm from dell via the techbargains link to get 20% off. Free shipping for stuff over $100. No tax (unlike some companies, like IBM). Final cost 134.36. It's a pretty good price (especially if it is retail, which I can't confirm but dell probably don't sell oem).

<< (especially if it is retail, which I can't confirm but dell probably don't sell oem). >>

Actually, it's most definitely OEM 😉

How did you know, Lostz? Did you check the mfr# or model#? Don't tell me you just guessed. I brought ram from them before and it was retail so at least my guess have a basis.

hmmm...this is kinda confusing at the Dell site. I looked up the 80g maxtor hd and they have 2 listed. The cheaper one i guess is oem (it doesn't say so) and the costlier one does say retail. I looked up the 60g maxtor hd and only one is listed...and doesn't say anything about "retail"...so should i assume this is oem? I have the same confusion over the yamaha cdrw drive mentioned in the other threads and since a $50 rebate is at stake i would want to be sure to get the retail BOX for the upc. It's been mentioned in those threads that this is indeed the retail version (since the other exact model is cheaper) but it doesn't say retail. I'm gonna pick up the maxtor drive since this isn't too much of an issue since no rebate is involved...which one, i'm not sure yet! But gonna hold off on the yamaha cdrw drive for a bit

I too had some troubles with GPS.
Ordered a Retail cpu.. waited waited... still waited finally sent email "president of company responded" sent my cpu out the next day with overnight shipping. However the next day when i received cpu it was an OEM cpu and he knew it. offered me 35 off the cost of retail for the oem.
I normally buy oem anyways.. but i got stiffed a 3 year warranty and had to wait an endless amount of time for them to ship. I'd be very wary of doing any business with them.
I can check if anyone would like and see if I still have his email.

EDIT here it is.. Presidents?

<< They listed themselves twice on resellerratings: One has a 2.1 rating, the other has a 2.0. AVOID THIS COMPANY! >>

You can't list yourself on resellerratings - you get listed by the first person to rate you. Of course, if they rated themselves then they listed themselves...but then they wouldn't have given themselves low ratings, would they? 🙂
