-60dBm

olds

I am in my bedroom. Have a G router (Asus WL520GU) on the other side of a walk-in closet. I use an app called WiFi Analyzer and I see -60dBm on my Kindle Fire. Pages take forever to load. If they load.
Is my WiFi slow or has my Kindle gave up the ghost?
I am typing this on my Galaxy S4 which is barely faster.
Time for an N router?
TIA
Edit:
Never really used wireless here before, do I don't know if it's always been like this.

I'll use the app at the router for reference. In the room with the router, page loads are pretty much instantaneous

It's the Kindle. Ran speediest.net on a laptop and the kindle. I could dl 20+ on the laptop. Less than 5 on the kindle. That's by the router and in the bedroom.
That being said, my router is old...

I think the days of inexpensive routers are over for me. I'm getting disappointed with the longevity of the $60 routers I've been buying. After well over a decade of Netgear products never letting me down, I have had one for sure failure and one I suspect is failing at a second residence 1400+ miles away.

11g routers are slow to begin with. Having to run an already challenged mobile client in 11g mode is going to make things worse. Get a $30 11n router and I'd imagine things will improve quite a bit for you.
