600m louder than expected. quiet alternatives?

although it's not jarringly loud, I seem to be getting 66150 rpm as the speed of the fan. Is this the same for all other 600m users? I used fanGUI to monitor the fan speed and this issue was brought up on dell's forum as well. I was wondering if there's a way to change fans or if this is isolated to my laptop. I'm just browsing and downloading. Nothing too intense.
 
fangui can't read the speed of the fans correctly. It will read that they're on, and all the temperatures correctly, but not fan speed.

Its the same with all of dells new notebooks.
 
I get similar speeds. But it is really quiet. I can hardly tell the fan is running. The hard disk is louder though.
 
yes, the hard drive is the only thing that's really louder than the fans. Well, the Maxtor external drive that supposedly has FDB is louder than both...maybe I should consider putting my Barracuda IV in there.
