I'm sorry but you have no insight to my financial situation.

I make a good living, and so does my wife. I can afford to do whatever I want with this EXTRA $$.

Actually, I change my answer, I think you should just go with an MCE box. I know you like hacking stuff. If you think fiddling with Tivos is fun, MCE is 10x better. There are new plugins and hacks everyday to change and tweak it. The sky's the limit! I  mine. I just want somebody to hack it so that the skip works like Tivo's (has that little "margin of error" so when you stop ff or rew, it clicks back a few secs).

damnit.. I think you just convinced me!

Here's some links to further convince :D:

Save it!

There was a thread a little while back where it showed how many years off your mortgage you could save by paying $50 or even $100 more each month, might want to consider it :)

We already do that.. It is incredible how fast you can pay it off

&&&& Seriously.. Since when does AT OF ALL PLACES tell someone to save their money?

Alaskan king crab, bottle(s) of ciroc vodka. Spend the rest on cocaine and kinky stuff for your wife.

Go to GotApex and search for "DellSB - Up to 40% Off Dell LCD Monitors!" You'll find a deal with some coupon codes for a brand new Dell 2001FP for $600. I don't know if that includes shipping nor if DellSB applies tax to your state.

There was also a thread recently about how much MORE money you can save by not doing that.

hvnsnt - sorry, I didn't mean to offend you or imply anything about your financial situation. I was merely saying that it is a very common attitude among Americans that if extra money falls into your lap, you spend it on something. Since you listed a specific amount, it sounds like that's what happened. Income tax refund maybe? Most people find it a lot easier to blow that on something, because they see it as "free money" even though it's no more free than when they earned it over the past year.

I'd go with the HTPC personally.
Edit: Or an LCD, get with the times! :p

To quote a King long dead. Everything is meaningless.

Solomon was wise, but did he didn't have to worry about his retirement. :p

Teach me the secrets to have $600 just laying around to blow. ;) Either the Dell 2100FP or the MCE.

If I had $600, I would buy one or more of the following:

New digital camera
New LCD or a new CRT
HD receiver
New Parts for a new PC
New subwoofer

I certainly don't NEED anything. We have more than enough, but I still want lots of stuff.
