Try the dell inspiron 1100... Under special deals and after rebate its close to 600$, but has integrated graphics 😛

Try Dell Refurbs, you might get something. Also www.hp.com.

Not likely, even at auction. $1200-$1500 is more realisitic for something like that. $600 will get you a Dell Inspiron 1100 if you are lucky.

HP and Compaq has their Athlon XP-M laptops for around $800 or so after rebates and deals.

Stay away from HP laptops with the AMD chip. There is a very real potential you will have to deal with a "whine" coming from the laptop. There is no fix from HP on this matter either.
