<< Somebody else check this out for me.

When I compare the pictures of the M&M guy for these two cameras, it looks to me that the Fuji is realy lacking in focus/quality.
I know I am biased, that's why I want a second opinion.

Fuji

Olympus

<< If it makes your decision any easier, computergeeks.com has the FinePix 4900 for $477, then minus 10% using a coupon that can be found at techb@rgains.com (replace '@' with 'a', duh), $430 + shipping & tax total. >>

U my friend are a god. Thx! This may be a swaying factor........dammit I dunno!

*puts water gun to his head* its all over now

EngineNr9 - Very nice job!

Here's a direct link to the Fuji Finepix 4900 and it's BRAND NEW!

GooberPHX420 - I still strongly suggest you visit a local camera shop and see this in person before deciding on buying it. I have a few friends in Phoenix who know of some camera shops in the area. What specific area of Phoenix (and zip code) do you live/work near?

Hey ross, I live in North phoenix - 85022. if they need specifics, the major crossroads are

7th street and Bell road. Driving isnt that big of a deal - so long as it isnt like in south phoenix, cuz thats like a 1.5 hrs drive, phoenix is a big ass city.

Hey thanx again for all your help ross.

I'll see what I can dig up.

<< man I cant find the coupon at computargeaks. Any linkage? >>

Carefully re-read EngineNr9's post, if you still don't get it I have PM'd you where you can find that coupon. Do me a favor and bookmark that website.

The casio looks like a good buy for that price, if you can find it. That link says no retailers for that camera.
The sample pic looks better than Finepix and just a bit lower than the UZI, some loss of sharpness and contrast. The contrast can be made up for in a photo program.

For $200, it's steal.

wonder if it isnt made any longer...hmmmm.....pics in my sig are were taken with it....great cam for the price 😀

I'd say get the oly. It's $500 at compusa if they have any instock. The EVF is the only thing i'm don't really like. That and i want a 4040.. want the 1.8 lens, noise reduction, and pixel remapping 🙂.

but that 10x IS lens is great. Image stablization is everything. This is a canon lens btw, or at least the IS part is. BTW, didn't read thru, but digital zoom is rather worthless if no one has mentioned it.

extra lens = possible vinteging, less light maybe, and not stablized. Good ones are expensive, and usually not stablized so you'll need a tripod. Fast shutter is nice, but if you don't have enough light, you'll be stuck. So if you want to reach, go for the oly. you can add teleconvertors to the oly too.. some ppl have some crazy setups.. hehe.

This is a really good thread for digital cameras, one of the best i read so far... seems everyone has there own opinion. this post started out wth the 4900 vs the 2100UZ.. if i had to pick, i go with Fuji. Unfortunatly, my wallet isnt that deep and went with the Kodak DX3900, got it for $305 after pm with blue against one of those camera stores that cant speak english..why are they alll located in nyc 🙂

There are some new cameras by kodak and canon coming out this month, but there all 2x and 3x zoom. I totally agree with you GooberPHX420 regarding optical zoom, 2x and 3x is pathetic. The standard on today's cameras should be 5x, we have digital camcorders that do 200x zooms. Avoid any camera offering 10x zoom when they say 2x optical and 8x digital, usually means shiity pictures your zooming in on.

Someone said get the Nikon 995, i seen a Nikon camera over at bestbuy, not sure which model, thought it was a toy camera it was so damm tiny, i got manly size fingers and using those small cameras made it very hard for me to press the buttons.

Best brands according to me are: Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Olympus, Kodak, Toshiba, Minolta and the rest.

Don't buy a camera from ebay, your spending $600 or more on a investment, go to a reputable dealer. Stuff on ebay is sold "as is", if you get the camera and it falls apart when you try to use it from ebay, your out $600.

If your not totally confused as to which one to pick yet, visit this site, i found it to be the best review site next to Steves Diigcams for seeing actual pictures hands down. You can enter your specs and search for that perfect camera. The reviews are ok, but who wants to hear what a camera expert thinks, go to his message boards, they have a board for every brand of camera, where the people who own these cameras will tell you thumbs up or down. Also check the comments on pricegrabber for cameras, avoid epinions.com - they hate every camera.

Most review sites review one camera at a time, why cant they take all the 2mp and all the 3mp and doing a camera round up, see which offers the most bang for the buck. Finally, I wouldnt invest my cold hard cash into 4mp cameras just yet, they dont seem to offer anything new as far as features go, and if your like me, i print my pics once in a while, most of the time i'm saving them, email or on the net.

Good Luck.
