Yup, super hot for those who live near a Micro Center. Heck, I may have to make the 70 mile road trip.

Previous (or ongoing) deals were $$$ off any Z68 with a 2600K, not 2500K. Alternately, $$$ off certain (four models available) Z68 with 2500K. This deal is any Z68 or P67 with a 2500K.

You can grab an ASUS P8Z68-V LX mobo for only $54 with this discount. Total cost for this plus an i5 2500k is $234 before tax, can't beat that!

A friend of mine has the exact same mobo and it's rock-steady!

Negative. Back in August they had a $40 CPU/MB combo for any Sandy Bridge, including the 2500k. A quick search in this forum will show those threads.

Looking at getting in on this... it's a 50 mile drive each direction but might still be worth it.

Having a hard time picking a mobo - I guess the ASUS P8Z68-V LX looks like a decent bang for your buck, but with this special I almost wouldn't mind paying a little more for a better motherboard if the features are worth the money

hmmm

I've been considering this since Tuesday as I remember the deal working that day as well...I may just end up building a new system this weekend. In terms of ram, most people using DDR3 1600? Is that supposed to be compatible with Ivy Bridge if one were to upgrade to that later?

In your case you can pony up a little more and get the ASUS pro board instead

untill when will this last i was kicking myself becasue 2600k 80 off deal lasted for so long and when im about to pass a MC it's gone. I'll be passing a MC this tuesday hmmmm.

Took a look and the Pro seems almost identical, but it's mATX instead... maybe that is just what is in stock near me. The next jump up is to $180the (before savings) and looks the same except for the sli support.

I guess I will just be forced to save my money 🙂

Ugh, this is tempting. I was thinking of buying a CPU/mobo to replace my stepdads whose is dying (on an old e8400 chip). However I know that I would want to buy a second one for myself... Which I don't need. But I want...

Oh, and the other big issue is that xmas is ~7 weeks away still. Way past return timeframe, so the only options are: 1) to build it and test it myself before giving it to him, but then it wouldn't be "new" (yeah lame I know, but just one of my things) or B) give it to him now as early gifts so he can use them now (which seems to ruin the whole spirit of xmas to me somehow).

I got in on the $ 40 deal....besides being $20 cheaper this deal has better selection of mobos too! 🙁

fuck...me too! I just got the i52500k + Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 for 299.98. I now see the combo as 279!

Does MC have a pricematch policy against their own prices?

edit: just chatted online with one of their reps. They have a 30 day pricematch policy. Will have to go there tomorrow

i dont see the 60$ off when i add to cart of 2500k + z68 mobo this is bad as you can't reserve for another 3 days to lock the price if you can't make the last offer date

It takes the price off the motherboard. It worked for me.

Now I am not sure if I really need this.

Anyone have any opinions on the Asus P8Z68-V LX? How reliable is it and differences between it and higher up P8Z68-V and Pro?

I drove up to Microcenter earlier today. Walked out with an Antec 300 case, 2500k, 8gb of ram, and asus p8z68-v lx for under $350 and that included 6% sales tax. I think it was a pretty good deal...

Installing Windows now

Do you also consider Dell and other prebuilt computers to be "used" then? 😀

I wonder if we'll see any comparable deals as we near Christmas. I'm going to be building a new system in the next few months, but I don't quite have the cash now. And I never really like buying hardware until I'm sure I need it.

The Core i3-2100 with MSI H61 motherboard for $120.

they also have a phenom x4 830 for 49.99 and you can get a board for ~40-50. I picked one of these up, and I'll bench it against my i5 2500k I also picked up. I was going to use my e8400 for my HTPC, but that Phenom was just too tempting.

as your username suggests you must be the only lol as I have tried adding several z68 atx mobos and pairing it with 2500k or 2600k and I never see a discount reflected. It did work for me for the 80$ off with pairing with 2600k before.
