Well to be honest, I don't see how a divisible of 24 would really affect the smoothness of the picture. If I downgrade my LCDs refresh rate to 24hz, the picture doesn't really appear any smoother. With 120 or 240hz, you're not displaying any more or any less than 24 images in 1 second. Instead you're displaying the same image 5 times or the same image 10 times. The lack of a 3:2 pulldown from 60hz is great, but downgrading to 24hz should solve the problem, but doesn't. At least not for me. Motion Interpolation is what causes the smoothness, not the even division. It surprises me that motion interpolation is almost always associated with 120hz when the same technology when applied to a 60hz television is smooth as well. It begs the question of if marketers are using 120hz as a shroud of technological progress when in actuality a simple, inexpensive and long-time existing algorithm called motion interpolation is actually shelving most of the work.
