60" 1080p Sony SXRD

I just saw this at my local BJ's for $1599 with the stand. Is that a good price on this unit? I dont recall the model number I just know it was a sony SXRD and remember seeing the contrast ratio was 10,000:1.

I for some reason remember seeing these for $1999 without a stand so just wondering if this is a good basement tv for recreation and not Home theater. Any input on it would be appreciated, Thanks!

They have a few levels of the SXRD's, but for the most part those sets are good for whatever the hell you want. Beautiful picture, great technology behind it.

IMO they still offer some of the best PQ from a rear projection set.

Sony no longer makes these sets, so if you want one, don't wait too long.

definitely. They offer what is essentially the best picture from a rear-projection standpoint, and actually look damned good when stood up against LCD sets. You get pros and cons to everything.
But you can use one of those sets for essentially anything.

I have a 60" SXRD (A2020). I like it. My only complaint is it only has 2 HDMI inputs.

I was surprised Sony pulled out of the rear projection market given that it leaves them with exactly one product for the 55+ inch market: their 70" LCD and it retails for $33000. Not everybody has a room that's suitable for front projection. I understand box stores are pushing thin displays but if someone's in the market for, say, a 60" or 65" TV, there just aren't many choices these days.

For those who have a rear projection display, it might be a good idea to buy a replacement bulb or two now while they're still easy to find.

Remember that the 10,000:1 contrast ratio is the dynamic contrast.
