*** 60,000 Credit Card numbers STOLEN online! ***

"A Los Angeles-based Internet company said that 140,000 fake credit card charges, worth $5.07 each, were processed through its transaction system Thursday, in a computer scam that may have affected as many as 25 companies.

The apparent fraud suggests that a computer criminal may have obtained a sizable list of stolen credit card numbers and was testing them for validity, credit card fraud expert Dan Clements said."

"Running cards through the authorization process is worthwhile to criminals, because they now have some 60,000 valid cards to sell on the black market, according to Clements, a credit card fraud expert who operates CardCops.com."

Check your statements people! If you have one of these bogus charges, call your CC company and get them to issue you a new card/number. Full details can be found in the link above.

These things are nothing new, many online companies are hacked and credit cards are stolen. credit card fraud happens every min. always use a generated virtual credit card when buying things online.

Damn...Oh well, you're only limited to the first $50 of liability on your credit cards. Most CC's have a zero liability.

As a rule, you should check your credit card balances often, not just when someone from AT tells you to check them.

Credit card fraud happens every single day.

I guess that's one good reason to have your cards completely maxed out!
ROTFLMAO
Still LOL!

i always use citibank's Virtual card generator. I just wish my fleet had it. altho, has anyone had problems w/ the Virtual numbers? I've gotten three stores to call me back saying my card has been rejected.

I never tried the Citibank's Virtual Account number. I have no problem with AMEX private payments, MBNA shopsafe (I use this mostly on price mistake/unreliable shops so that i can set credit limit and they can't overcharge me) and Discover Deskshop (I use this a lot as it has 2% cash back).

I checked mine and all is well. I have not had any problems with my acount yet. I guess it is only a matter of time before somebody gets a hold you my CC number.

Thanks for the links to one-time-use cards.

Note: The one for Discover will not work with Flash 6. It times out in about 60 seconds instead of 60 minutes. Discover has no estimate of when it will be fixed.

AMEX will not work, although it rather appears it will, if you try to sign up with a userID different from one you already have to access your online account info. It does not warn you about it or point out you already have an account. AMEX will also permantly alter your settings for opening window size and position. And their screen will not let you switch to any other window unless you specifically minimize the AMEX screen first. Can't figure out if is arrogance or incompatence.

omg....

i saw this post a few days ago and thought nothing of it....then today we got our credit card statemetn....$16000 charged to our citi bank credit card. coincidence? i don't know. but anyway, we called and disputed it, and after the first dispute, the CSR said "uh oh"...turns out there is another 6K+ spent since the statement that was printed last week. he cancelled the card and we have new ones on the way.

anyway, just thought it was weird that it happened, wonder if there is any relation. oh well, atleast everything worked out. BTW, thanks for the link to the VIRTUAL CITIBANK......i will keep that in mind for future reference.
