Damn, I'd love to take a ride in that.
Looks like a lot of fun [if it were a controlled flight.]

If that kid survives, he'll have one hell of a story.

They're talking about how there might not be much oxygen in the compartment, and of course breathing helium for a while isn't going to be good.

That thing's moving fast as shit. I'd love to know what the speed is.

not moving fast its a complication of the helicopter camera distance etc...

Ah, gotcha. It looks like jet powered balloon on the video :^D

Anyone else notice the warning label on the side of it? It is getting much closer to the ground now as you can tell that the camera is getting much closer to the balloon.

They should get a bunch of sky divers to jump on the ballon and somehow attach a parachut to the thing and pop a hole in the ballon and ride it down to the ground or something.

They should let darwin play things out.

i don't really think a kid deserves to die because he was curious about the massive UFO shaped thing in his parents back yard

Darwin has nothing to do with what one "deserves".

Well, then they shouldn't let "darwin play things out." They should try to save the child, if he's in harms way. Because, that's what we do - we try to save people who need saving...

Of course, his parents should face whatever consequences they deserve, as well..

Letting "Darwin play things out" has nothing to do with trying to save the child, either.

then what does it mean - is it just some macho bullshit to say, to make you feel tough for not caring if a little kid lives or dies?

It has nothing to do with caring, either. Actions have consequences, deserved or not, intended or not.

plenty of 02 up until 14,000 feet MSL. unless this thing is airtight.

I would imagine the passenger compartment's seperate from the flotation chamber.

depends on what channel you listen to. i keep flipping between fox/cnn. So far CNN seems for sensational. They are the ones saying he could have fallen out and the thing is so well made no oxygen is getting in.

Fox is saying the thing is not made that secure so oxygen should NOT be a problem.

Has it even been verified that there is a separate compartment for people/cargo? This just doesn't seem like a balloon made for such things.

They've been saying 25-30 mph.
