How in the world would you get "DSL without a phone line", when "DSL" = "Digital Subscriber Line"?
Are they playing fast and loose with terminology or is it simply fraud?

I think they mean you can get the DSL without the PSTN (the analog telephony service).

This. I have been using their DSL Direct for about 3 years (only high speed option worth anything in the sticks) and it has been great. I pay 5.00 extra per month to not have to have voice service on the phone line.

pretty good.

I'm getting 30Mbps/30Mbps for.... basically 50 or less when you take into consideration cost of TV in the package.

Please tell your neighbors to sign up for FIOS as well!!! Their low penetration rate ~25% was why they say they aren't expanding. FIOS is so damn ridiculously awesome I don't know why people don't sign up for it. I think I saw their HD TV package with 200-300 channels + unlimited phone VOIP + 35/35 internet for like 120-130 a month. They also have cheaper packages that run like ~70-100 that has a bit less internet speed. Comcrap is $110 for a very mediocre 60 crappy channels + unlimited phone + 6/874 internet.

I don't hate you, I'm just quite jealous airdata!!!! 😛

I got a relative onto this deal. It is NOT limited to new customers only. There is nothing like that mentioned in the terms of the offer online.

I actually called to place a phone order. The CSR tried to shoot me down with the "new subscribers only" excuse. I objected. He checked with someone, came back and apologized. If you want to order over the phone, call 888-757-6500. Phone orders require a 12-month commitment though.

Nice deal, OP. When I called ATT, I found that not only is the offer not available in my area, but the only thing they could offer me was 56K Dial-Up service. For $23.99 per month!!

I hope this is a typo re: ordering online and calling a phone number 🙂

Did AT&T make you purchase the modem and the wireless router? I already have an older DSL modem and would hate paying for something that I don't need. Thanks!

they give you the choice to include a modem or a wireless router (both items have full price rebates) or the other option was to include nothing..

Actually, if you do not have internet service, you DO need to call first BEFORE you can order anything online. :sneaky: 😀

No, they didn't give me any hard time at all (once the "new subscribers only" issue was handled). The service will NOT be interrupted. It may take until tomorrow for the higher speed to kick in. The existing modem is fine, but it may need to be powercycled.

Be careful with that rebate. It may require subscription to additional services (like local, long disctance or wireless phone service).

If you follow the link in the OP and scroll almost all the way to the bottom, you will see the "*View AT&T High Speed Internet Direct offer disclaimers" link. It states:

Nothing about being a new customer. The CSR was surprised too.
