None of those topics should cause such a stir. This is part of what is wrong with Americans in general. We live in a place where wearing a jacket with the wrong team logo can get you killed in a parking lot.

It's mostly the internet that brings that side (internet tough guy) of people out. You wouldn't see anyone IRL throwing punches over .999... == 1 argument.

I agree that it would rarely happen, but I think it does change overall tone in face to face conversations. People lose civility when arguing like that to a large degree on the internet and to a lesser degree in person, but I still think it has a detrimental effect.

I actually don't care too much about Earth. The faster we destroy it, the faster we are forced to advance our space faring capabilities.
