Hi everyone,

I saw this at techbargains and am curious if anyone is using this device and their comments on it.

I think it's a good price is it not? Does anyone know of a better one/price?

CHEERS :)

Looks good and price isn't bad either.
But I would hold on until someone has tested it out.
Because some reader are problematic, some even can corrupt data while transfering (Dazzle).
Stick with better and proven brand if you can.
I use Sandisk dual reader (MS and CF). I wish they make multi read one.

I have a 6 in 1 card reader, not the one shown in the picture but a similar one. Works great with my san disk compact flash and generic Smart media card..

Its a nice small compact design, so you can bring it with you if you have a laptop and a digital camera. I found this one at frys for $29.99.

Supports following cards
Compact Flash Card 8MB - 512MB
Smart Media Card 8MB - 128MB
Memory Stick 16MB - 128MB
Secure Digital Card 16MB - 128MB
Multi Media Card 16MB - 64MB
Micro Drive 340MB - 1GB

I've seen that at certain Staples B&M stores.
Same price, but you can add something and use coupon.
Good thing is you can return it if there is something wrong with the unit.

I also have the Sandisk dual reader, but I saw a great price recently on the Dazzle. What's the problem with Dazzle?

I ordered the Dazzle 6 in 1 from J&R for approx $25 shipped but have not had the time to open and use it yet. My question is on the Dazzle packing it says it supports USB 2.0. Is this true, I thought it was only 1.0?

Maybe wrong to place to post, but worthwhile to all if Dazzle supports 2.0; pls excuse, tx.

It is NOT USB 2.0. It is USB 2.0 compatible meaning that it will run on a USB 2.0 port (as will any USB 1.1 device), but it is NOT USB 2.0 compliant (meaning that you won't get USB 2.0 speeds). It's all marketing fluff.

Hi,

I've been using the Dazzle 6-in-1 reader for a few months now. Got it for <$20 from Dell on one of the AT deals. Been using it with CF cards and lately SM cards too. Seems to work fine for me. I don't delete the images on the card using the reader. I do that with the camera.

I have 2 Dazzles. One on each computer. Since they are light weight I used double stick tape and attatched one to the side of the monitor and the other to the top of my Altec grey speaker. That works for me.

I love them. I do delete pics from them with no problem, but I've read it may be best not to format them in a reader. Better to do it in the camera. No big deal anyway. You can transfer files between 2 different media types that are inserted. I do that with my CF & SM.

I keep a 32Mb CF ( since my cameras use SM ) in each Dazzle. So whenever I'm at one computer and want to take something with me I always have a removable drive available. It's great since I don't really have a need to network. And no drivers on ME or XP. When I get a laptop I'm getting another Dazzle.

It also downloads very fast compared to my HP1115 printer that has readers. Much faster.

how much is it?
It's $29.99. It's very nice and slim, picked up on on Saturday. As an interesting note. I was wondering around BestBuy On sunday and saw a PNY silm 5 in 1. Looked alot like the PQI. There was an open one so I opened it up to see, and yes it was same thing except 5 in 1 instead of 6 in 1. Same type of part number and looks exactly the same. PQI must make PNY's.

Does anyone know how well Linux supports this (and other like it) devices? To my understanding, it maps each partition to a /dev entry... for example, hda1 is the first partition on the primary hard drive, hdb3 is the third partition on the secondary hard drive, while sda1 is the first (and only) partition on my digital camera's SmartMedia card. With this device, that can support multiple disks simultaneously, what /dev entries would they be?
I think this is on-topic, because this issue has been preventing me from purchasing such a reader even though I really want to.

Is it worth waiting for a usb 2.0 media reader? Does compact flash, smart media, etc. even max out the usb 1.1 transfer rate?
