<< If anybody is interested - I used sandra to bechmark the reader and got 800kbps. With a PCMCIA reader I got 1771kbps with the same media. So its about 1/2 as fast as the PCMCIA reader... Also it says 'USB 2.0 Device' on the package, but it works fine with USB 1.0, although I wonder if it would be faster hooked up to 2.0. <shrug> >>

If you hook it up to a USB 2.0 card, it should be much closer to the PC card speeds. USB 2.0 can transfer at up to 480 mb/sec, which USB 1.1 is much slower. USB 2.0 devices are all backwards compatible with USB 1.1 machines, which is why this works fine (but slow) with your USB 1.1 computer. Of course, there's no real reason to get a USB 2.0 card unless you plan on using an external hard drive, CD burner, or plan on transferring a lot of photos using this device :)

UPDATE *************

My rebate IS VALID and I should receive my check within the next 30 Days or so.........

The CONTACT field.... I left it blank.. it's NOT Important, put Dell in there if you Like..

The UPC number that DON"T MATCH.... Dosn't matter, they are giving you the rebate anyway.

Mine DIDN'T match the rebate form either, just send in what was on the package.

HOPE this helps some of the people in the REPOSTED thread.
