I don't know much about domains, so you'll have to excuse me if this is a dumb question. Is it possible to register the domain with godaddy (and continue paying the $7/year fee) but have it hosted with a different company? I've seen much better hosting plans then the ones godaddy offers, but $7/year is an unbeatable price for the domain fee. Can I have my cake and eat it too?

I only just noticed it.
EpicDomains and GoDaddy "twins"? EpicDomains and GoDaddy

Both offering $6.95 for *new* OR *transfer*, but $8.75 / 8.95 to *stay* and *re-new*?

Sooo similar, that it looks like they're "twins"!
(Essentially, the same web pages. But, of course, not.)

Anyhow, why stay and pay GoDaddy for $8.95 or EpicDomains $8.75 to *re-new* with them?
When you can painlessly *transfer* registration w/1 year extension to their "twin", both now at $6.95?
$2/domain * # of domains = real money?

$6.95 now the new de facto per year price of leasing a domain name?
Temporary "sale" or tip of the iceberg?

Same here. I signed up for the 1and1.com free hosting a while back and have been trying to think of a domain but each one I try it's already taken.

Funny, they both just went down for maintenance at the exact same time.

Coink-e-dink? I think not!
