6/26/12 Steam Midweek Madness: L.A. Noire 75% off

I loved LA Noire (although now that I remember, I don't think I quite finished it).

You might say it's the only modern point-and-click detective/adventure game made with an AAA-budget and graphics.

Fantastic storyline, engaging cases, interesting characters, and what they did with the facial animations is brilliant. A great mix of action and problem solving. Some of the moments when you're interrogating people become really intense. The characters feel alive.
 
With this and today's Daily Deal I'll be satiated for a week, hope the Summer Sale starts soon though.

Valve is premiering the "Meet the Pyro" TF2 short movie tomorrow, on Wednesday. After it's stirred up enough hype, bam, they'll hit us with the Summer sale on Thursday (the day after). Calling it now.
 
Finally picked LA Noire up. Also picked up the Penny Arcade Adventures combo pack for $3.

I'm starting to believe it will start later this year, usually a week before a big sale, we start getting lots of updates for games that almost never get them, we haven't gotten those updates yet and I'm pretty sure Steam will do something achievement based again for the sale in some fashion as previous ones.
 
How is it compared to Mafia II? I actually purchased it on sale for $5 on amazon but I couldn't link it to my Steam Account so I never installed it or play it.

For less than $8 I would get it so I can finally link it to steam...😀

AFAIK, Mafia II is an action game. It's got more violence, more guns, all that good stuff. (You're in the Mafia after all.)

LA Noire is a detective/puzzle game that involves a bit more thinking. It's also considerably longer.

LA Noire is more of an adventure game, similar to Police Quest (and a little like the Tex Murphy games). It is a little more repetitive than the good adventure games, but it is still fun. I found it much better than Mafia 2.
 
Quick question. I bought this game from amazon and it will not run under any circumstances.

Will the steam version still have an issue with my system, or should the steam version be OK? I know the amazon reviews suggest that their version wont run for 60% of people.

i read the same, but i doubt youll have any issues with the steam version. You can verify game cache if theres any problems. But im just guessing, so i really dont know.
 
I just know i'd have to top myself if i owned 2 copies of the same game that didn't run, lol.

I used to HATE steam. I mean it made me punch my wall. But now i really like it.

I picked up Dues Ex human revolution for £4.99 and L.A is up for the same. Got some great titles for good prices. Although paid full up for max payne.
 
Well I was going to get complete addition. Is it possible this is what doesn't work? From amazon I got the same.

Not going to be happy if this too doesn't run. only £6.24 for complete edition but on amazon I paid like £25 so....bit of a pain.
