i bought the same HSF a couple weeks ago, pretty fun to play w/ 🙂 i didn't know the SKU so thanks for pointing it out 😉

I just got back from Anahiem Frys and I got a Thoroughbred A chip 2002 week 32 , Replaced a 1800 Palamino, quick question I have an Asus A7A266 motherboard with orig Alimagic chipset should i switch out the Asus and use the ECS k7S5A Pro board?

Wish I had read this about the $9 heatsink before I went and picked one up. Just got the generic coolermaster $11 HS/fan.

Just hope the board is not too flakey. Super deal if it runs without problems!

Well, I made the drive to Dallas and bought two of them for $59.99 each! One at a time, of course, since it is one per customer. 🙂 I bought the $11.99 HSF with one and got an all copper one for $14.99 to go with the other. I hope they work as well as my other ECS boards!

hehe...I plan to do the same; but can someone who's bought it at 59$ post how much the motherboard is and how much the cpu is? They usually list the two seperately even if its a combo.

Thanks

The CPU is quoted at $33.01 and the mobo is quoted at 26.08 for me. However, nobody in their right mind is gonna sell you these individual pieces at these prices.

Bump for a great combo at that price. I just built a K7S5A/2000+ system for my brother and I paid more for the MB and chip on the FS/FT forum.... 🙂

I have an old pII of midtower case with 230w power supply. If I update with this combo. Is the power suppply or case good enough, or does it need to update ?

Thanks

Damn, they were sold out at the Anaheim store. Does anybody know if Fry's will restock?

I was at the Anaheim store at about 1pm today, and they had at least 50 unopened K7S5A-Pro motherboards stocked on the upper shelf of components. I picked up three of those combos for myself 😀 Were they out of CPUs to go with the motherboards, or did your sales rep bother to check the top shelf?

FYI there are now two different box designs for the same K7S5A-Pro motherboard: the old forest-green box, and a newer light-beige box. They are the same motherboard - be on the lookout for both.

Good luck!
