I doubt they're throughout the cable, that'd be damn expensive, and it would take A LOT of power, since each led has a >.7 volt drop across it.

You people do know the difference between parallel and series circuits, right? In parallel circuits the voltage stays the same, only the mA drops.

Nice find OP. So, a Type A Male to A Female, would basically be a extension cable, I guess. Maybe one led, and and plastic "optic cable" type line, to glow/blink for the length of the cable. Thinking of getting one, but hate the idea of flashing, could put black tape on it, so not distracting as a extension for usb joystick. Not flying the Enterprise.
