I just got Logitech's X620 6.1 surround sound speakers for my birthday. Now I need to upgrade my sound card. Right now I'm running the original card from 2000, Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64v (WDM). I started to browse for a new 6.1 capable card but was quickly overwhelmed. I'm by no means some sort of sound afficionado, but I do want to take advantage of the speakers that I have. I was looking at the Soundblaster Audigy2ZS. But I don't even know what I'm looking for. I don't want to buy something with a bunch of features that I don't need or vice versa. I do have a firewire port already, but having a 2nd wouldn't be the end of the world I suppose. Do I need to have some sort of external amplification or will my system power the speakers and sub? So many questions...

To sum up, which sound card should I consider buying? On a budget of course!

Edit: Oh, I'm running Windows ME (XP soon), 933 P3, 384 RAM (more coming soon) and Radeon 9600 video card. I can't think of what else would apply here...

Edit #2: I don't currently have a spare 5.25" drive space.

If you don't need EAX and stuff, opt for a cheap Chaintech AV710. Great for music and things.

I was just gonna mention the Audigy LE for $63! I didn't see that the first time...thanks!

ts3433, that's just it. I don't know if I need EAX etc or not. I do dabble in some gaming from time to time, otherwise it's music and videos.
