Wow, even my grandmother could pitch better than that.

Still he is not the worst, Claggert has 43.2 ERA with 1.2 IP.

Comparing someone with 1.2 IP to someone with 6.0 IP is not a fair comparison. Get back to us when Claggert's gone 4.1 more.

OK, you want someone with comparable IP, Swisher has 0 ERA with 1 IP, how about that?

Gah, how'd you like to pay $200 to see that game, LOL.

And those are the worst seats. Try thousands for close seats. 🙂

It's actually $14 for the cheapest seats, bleachers. Goes way up from there though.

One blowout I can overlook, but they seem to be making a habit of this.

5 dollars for cheapest seats. They have partially obstructed views though.

On the website it shows most of the seats closest to the playing field (even out beyond the infield) at $375

The same seats at Comerica Park are $70

Team offers refund to fans after terrible loss

Maybe the Yankees can do the same?

Yeah, 50,000+ refunds for millions of dollars compared to 600. :disgust:

Something's gotta give.

Yes, and if they were stupid enough to do that, they'd set a precedence.

How about if you don't like the product then don't buy tickets and see them play? Ever hear, vote with your dollar?

Aren't you supposed to have a doctorate in economics?

It's a joke, idiot. Relax. It's been, what, like 10 years since the Yanks won the Series and yet they're charging an arm and a leg to get into the Stadium.

You know, I've been hearing a rumor about the Yankees. Apparently, The Yankees suck. Just a rumor, though.

baseball is so random on a given day because of so many variables, including fans in the first row seats. They pay these pitchers ridiculous amounts of money to play once every 5 days and on the news we hear "______ was just shelled today." Too many off-days and too many variables that make them worth that.

But it's ironic how I mention overpaid players when you guys are talking about overpaying for seats. I live in NY... I know how it works... you want to pay it, it's your own fault prices are that high.

The New York Yankees might have a serious problem on their hands: Beautiful new Yankee Stadium appears to be a veritable wind tunnel that is rocketing balls over the fences.

This was in evidence again on Saturday, when the Indians posted six homers, including 14 runs in the second innings. Cleveland eventually won 22-4 -- and the Yankees and Indians have combined for 14 homers in the last two days.

"With the way the wind has been the last couple of days, right field is a joke," said one official. "I would say at least three or four home runs in this series would be routine outs in nearly every park."

There have been five games played in new Yankee Stadium, including two exhibitions against the Chicago Cubs, and so far there have been 25 homers -- including 17 in the first three games in the Yankees' first home series against the Indians.

That's an average of almost five home runs per game and, at this pace, there would be about 400 homers hit in the park this year -- or an increase of about 250 percent. In the last year of old Yankee Stadium, in 2008, there were a total of 160 homers.

The Yankees' traditionally have fostered pitching in their home park. Old Yankee Stadium had a short porch in right field, designed originally to take advantage of Babe Ruth's power, but the rest of the park played large. Through the years, this has allowed pitchers to thrive in Yankee Stadium, and been a nice lure for the team in pursuing free agents.

The new Yankee Stadium is just across the street from the old park, but it's not aligned quite the same way as the old Yankee Stadium. In the late-afternoon shadows in the old park, the sun was in the eyes of the left fielder. Now the sun sets into the eyes of the center field and right fielder. Whether or not that's a factor is not known, and it's also possible that the number of home runs hit is directly related to the poor pitching of the likes of Chien-Ming Wang.

But already there have been a number of fly balls that seemed to be routine outs, before almost leaping out of the park. Mark Teixeira lifted a pop to right field off the end of his bat in the first inning Saturday, and players on both teams appeared to be completely surprised when it carried over the wall.

Even if the Yankees wanted to make an adjustment, there is nothing they could do structurally to alter the park this season. They would have to petition for a change going into the next offseason, before doing any reconstruction.

I doubt that the park is boosting HRs by 250%. The Yankees' pitching, particularly Wang and their relievers, has been so bad that it's impossible to judge. Still, this could be an interesting story throughout the rest of the season.

edit: that article is per espn.com

I've watched a few of the games on tv and it is very apparent the balls to right field just keep carrying. It seems easier to hit home runs (to right field at least) at the new stadium than it did in Denver before the Rockies took steps to prevent it.

And the new Yankee Stadium is now being referred to as The Wind Tunnel....at least for now.

In the first three games played there, a MLB record for home runs in a new stadium for those 1st three games was set at 17. And if you include the two exhibition games before the home opening series, there have been 25 homers hit in the first 5 games.

Seems right field is playing horribly short in the new stadium.

Yankees' manager Girardi: "It seems to be playing somewhat short. You don't see this many home runs usually. It's too early to tell, but the early indications are the balls are carrying to right field."

Indians' manager Wedge: "It definitely does fly [to right] here as compared to the old Stadium."

That doesn't count all the balls that are rocketing out to the outfield.

Is this a design flaw? It's only April and the ball can't stay in the park. What will happen when it's 90 and humid?

There's no easy fix either...there isn't much room behind the plate to move the infield back, and the design of the new stadium has bleachers and right field up against the fence. Besides, when the ball is landing in the second deck in right field, there isn't much you can do.

When any fly ball has a chance of being a three run homer, the game becomes much more about luck than skill.

F' Yankee Stadium and their short porches. Top 4 shortest left/right fields in the league and they hire the big guns to hit there.
