With all the impeachment news we almost forgot about the debates tonight. I expect lot of chatting about the impeachment.

Yea, I'm taking a break from it, far too many contenders up there. Whoever they pick will be SO far and above trump in every measurable level, it really doesn't matter.
I have my preferences, but would hold my nose and vote for Tulsi if it came to it..

I can't even watch it. Appears to be aired only on MSN but Dish doesn't have MSN.

Edit: am watching it live on WaPo's website.

Obama would never win a primary today with how far left they are talking. I like what they were saying about family leave, that's just common sense. I think they were asking Steyer about housing costs in CA. He said policy needs to change. Well, haven't the Dems been running LA and SF forever? Why aren't they fixing it?

Pretty sure she wants $15 minimum wage, an AWB, and to stop being the world's police. What's wrong with that?

NIMBYism is something that crosses party lines. California came close to breaking some of that at the state level by removing some zoning control from local governments, but it has not passed yet.

Trump was actually one of the first to fully voice and advocate for family leave....

Because Republicans endor...something something... Russia... something...... facts be damned.... www.alt-left-fake-news.com

Look at this tweet.... #Fakenews... dot dot dot...

I'm disappointed in warren's answer to if the percent of people in the military should be higher. She said the number should be higher and I completely disagree.

Yea, I remember Trump talking about that awhile back. Still haven't seen any action though. I doubt we will from either party. They'd lose too much money from the corporations that love to throw money at them to buy influence.

Very much agree. Another reason I think Tulsi is a real candidate. Calling her a "Russian Asset" is just a joke.

My last 2 employers (Current and previous) have offerred me (as the father) paid paternity leave. So regardless of government enforcement, change is starting to happen.

Last job 16 weeks @ 100% pay - which I used
Current Job I believe is 12 weeks @ 100% pay - which I haven't yet used but will likely when my next is born at the end of the year.

The hilarious part is my leave is longer and higher pay than my wife who had to go through the actual birth part 😛

That sounds like a "feels" sort of thing, in which there's a distinct generational gap. Certainly there is merit to the notion of public service. Even if this particular application of it misses the mark.

I have seen that change as well, with companies offering paternal leave. I've had that benefit before, but have yet to use it. I think 2-3 months for men and maybe 6 for women would be ideal. It would certainly help our birth rate.

We are ironically making Idiocracy into a documentary. The higher intelligence folks "don't have time" for children. Yet for whatever reason lower intelligence has all the time in the world.

The fact is that children are expensive. The lower you are on the income brackets the more benefits that apply to you. The higher your income the more having children will cost you. It's simply a recipe for Idiocracy.

Things like paid leave are a key to ridding ourselves of this stupidity.

My paid leave was absolutely essential - Our daughter was basically born 3 months premature, which basically I used my paid paternity leave for what would have normally been covered by the pregnancy

Wow, hope your daughter was OK. You are very much right about "Idiocracy". And what do politicians do on both sides of the aisle? Let more cheap labor immigrants in! That's what big business wants after all. Birth rate be damned!

It is my opinion that a strong federal military makes for a weak democracy. There is a reason our forefathers were against a standing army and limited their funding and use.

Pete might have had the line of the night: “We have over a 100 years of experience in Washington and look where we are now “
