5fps in age of empires on an 8800GTS

I get really nice frame rates running Age of Empires 3 maxed out, but he gets some fps around 5fps at times with an Asus 8800GTS at stock speeds. He has an E6600@3.1GHZ, 4GB RAM and a 700 watt PSU. When he did overclock the video card, those fps jumped up to around 7fps. GRAW runs fine for him and so do the rest of his games. Any idea what could be wrong? Thanks.
 
All his games run fine except AoE3?
And AoE3 runs fine on your PC using the same GPU and drivers?

Hmm. Did he create a custom profile for the game that maybe has an incompatible graphic setting? Is his game install patched to the latest version (or the one you are running and seeing no problems with)?

I am not sure. Try re-installing the drivers, I guess.
 
He updated to the new drivers and still nothing happened. Good point about him possibly making a custom profile. Thanks for the info, I'll get back to you.
