Every time I get stuck behind a real old driver, I remind myself that he may have been on Omaha Beach and my impatience just disappears.

P.S. - My Dad trained some of the pilots who flew that day.

It really makes you think, How many people now adays would join up for service if something like WW2 happened again?
Back then, kids not old enough would try and alter records, lye and bribe to get in the service to serve their country, today, they do the samething, but to get out of doing service.

I know i'd be one of the first volunteers. Then again, I already volunteered to join Maybe i'll get to Iraq by November.

My uncle was a "Para" and dropped into Normandy. He still marches on Remembrance day every year.

i dont think this country is as chock-full of p*ssies as you think. i know i would go.

I think just as many would go if we were to be attacked by another nation. There just hasn't been a clear cut cause like World War II since that war.

Thanks Granpa!
He was in one of the first Ranger Platoons to hit the beach. Only he and 6 other people out of his platoon made off the beach.

It's sad how few of them remain. I am a ham radio operator, and every now and then I will listen to a bunch of guys that survived Pearl Harbor.
