5900 FX CC Price Match to CompUSa DEAD Compusa raised price

Can someone explain circuit cities price match policy to me? On their web site it says they will meet it and then beat it by 10% of the difference.

Details

PNY FX 5900 at Compusa 249.99 - 50 dollar rebate

Same card at Circuit City 399.99 - 100 dollar rebate. (BTW they just now started this 100 dollar rebate)

I go to Circuit City with my Compusa info, she verifies the product number and acts really shocked. Then she says, "Does our card also have a rebate in our store?" I tell her yes, knowing it will print out anyway if I buy it. She says NO.. we can't do that. We can only match the rebate price.. so I can sell it to you for 299.99 - OUR 100 rebate making it 199.99

Shouldn't it have been price match at 249.99 and 10 % of the difference making it about 235 ?

Then, after the rebate it would have been 135.

Opinions?? She argued and then looked at their GIANT policy sign nervously. I think I could have pushed it but I had been leaning towards an ATI card for DX9 games and that is what I ended up with.

one comment: you moron!

price match is non rebate, that is so obvious. if both place has rebate, they match to the lowest "rebated" price so what she saying is somewhat correct, but she needs to apply the 10% of the different

Thanks Claw, I thought most of what she said did make sense minus the 10%.

I was thinking that something was up since she acted so panicked and concerend. She said 'How did this happen!!?" Like it was her own money.

As far as you other two are concerned, I asked for an opinion of what the actual policy was.

I am not a Pro Price matcher like you guys and this is actually only the second time I have ever tried to price match anything. This forum seemed appropriate at the time to get some info on their practices.

Why not buy the card for $399 at Circuit City, then come back the next day and show them the $249 price from Compusa. If they want to do the price match thing, then they will have to match the $249, less 10%, or they can do rebate to rebate price match.

Here is what CC's website says regarding rebates as part of the price match:
Our policy applies only to advertised prices. It does not apply to special offers or promotions, including rebates, free-with-purchase offers, and special financing.

FYI, in my CC store if rebates are involved we pricematch our price down so that after rebates, the prices match.

I.E.

$799 laptop at Bestbuy ($999-$200 rebates)
$849 laptop at CC ($999-$150 rebates)

We would drop the price on the laptop down to $949 so after $150 in rebates, the end result is the same.

Could you tell more information about the CC rebate? Is it CC rebate or manufacture's?

I couldn't find the rebate form online. Thanks

RPGfan I will look for you when I go back to the store. I have to go back tonight or tommorow to get a gift card.

It says on the pricing sign 399.99-100 rebate but not who gives the rebate.

Aphex, that did seem to be the way she explained it. It just made me wonder she seriously seemed upset about the whole deal. Like I was trying to take money from her.

Circuit City must be doing something right, I think they must get an incentive. Everytime I go in there I don't have to wait on any help. I go to Compusa and feel like a leper.

I thought about trying that, but I was already wanting to check out an ATI card since they are supposed to be better at DX9 games. I ended up getting a radeon 9800 np.

I have had Nvidia cards for so long I was reluctant to switch and of course earlier I was trying to get a good deal with price matching.

I do appreciate your help.

Oak

Called the local store he said he could not tell who offered the rebate. I asked if it could be more than one , like say 50 cc and 50 Pny and he said it was possible.

I questioned the 10% price match difference and he told me that was only if I bought something and left the store with it. I questioned this and he hung up on me.

CC= great service if you want to buy something but don't you dare try to pricematch with us.

I can't find it either. Does it print out at the register?

Isn't this a hot deal? The price match should be easy if you buy first then PM later at customer service.

Best I can tell if prints at the register.

Can someone call another CC store please to see if they know. My store argued with me on the price policy and then hung up on me.

Does CC have a hard time honoring their price match?

I just called and they said no rebate, however they probably didn't check it in the computer, I may order for online pickup and go try it.

Oak, with no rebate they should price match to COmpUsas 249.99 + 10 % of difference.

I am on hold with CCs 800 number now.

Right, not concerned about the PM at this point, how did you know about the 100.00 rebate? It doesn't sound like you actually bought the card? The rebate is what is going to make this a scorching deal.

🙁 CC rep on 800 number agreed with me about price match regardless of rebates, but then spoke with supervisor.

They then said bottom line with rebate they can only match compusa price after rebates.

So 199.99 for a 5900 at both stores.

Now I have to decide if I am keeping my 9800 np or going for the 5900.

I went to the store and saw it on the sign. It says 399.99 minus 100 rebate. No one can tell me who gives the rebate. The 800 number rep said it must be a CC rebate since I saw it in the store but not on their website.

No, I was going to buy the card but the lady argued with me so I left CC with a 9800 non pro.

I was mad but didn't feel like arguing with her.

I guess I could have paid full price, left the store came back in for a price match, hoped they didn't fuss about rebate and price match + rebate.

OK im a bit confused. You say that CC "can only match compusa price AFTER rebates." That would mean that they could match the $249 price (after CompUSA $50 rebate). I have read through most of the threads here, so I know what you are getting at. You should have said that CC can only match compusa price BEFORE rebates, not after.

Kind of a no brainer really, not very many stores (none to my knowledge) will price match items with rebates from other stores.......... Price match expert not required.

No rebate here in orange park, Florida. Picked one up and no rebate printed out.
Gonna hang onto this card for a few days to see if a rebate shows up, or I'll just return it.
If a rebate shows up this could be smoking.

I'll check it out at my local CC in Rochester, NY and see if they have that kind of deal. If so, this could be a MOLTING HOT DEAL!! I'll let you guys know when I get a chance to check it out.

CRIKES!!! It's snowing outside:frown:
