59 yr old great-grandmother to have twins

I read the topic and presumed it was a repost, then I read the article and was like OMGWTFTWINSBYOLDBAGSx2!
Lets see, by the time they're 15, their parents have a very good shot at being dead.

When the story about the 56 year old woman came out Joan Lunden did an intrview on the Today show, talking about being a mother in her 50's.

I got curious & looked it up & rather than adopting a kid, she had a surrogate implanted with donor eggs and runs around talking about being a parent in her 50's😕

I'm sure the kids will have a great life & everything, but damn... Must be nice to be that rich.

I feel bad for those kids because a) they'll never get to know their own brothers/sisters and b) their parents have a very good chance at not being able to make it to their graduation.

I have to reiterate what's been said that I think this is plain wrong. Having children when you're a senior citizen is absurd. The chances you will see them graduate high school is pretty slim not to mention the limited parental abilities and energy they will have in raising the children.

Yeah, plus the kids will be made extreme fun of and/or extremely spoiled

Seriously, this has all the makings of a bad joke about the South. Georgia, lives in a mobile home, father to be is an ex, first child at 15 years old, great-grandchildren in her 50s, and age age difference between child #1 and the new child of 44 years. It boggles the mind how this can happen.

If you read the article, it clearly indicates that the twins were unexpected, especially knowing that the 59yr old had her tubes tied!!!!!

You can't look at it from a mother being selfish point of view. Obviously life has thrown her a curve ball, and I hope she and her family make the most of it.

Of course it's a different issue when 50+ yr old couples seek fertility treatment in trying to have children late in life... totally selfish and irresponsible.

She'll be 77 when they graduate high school. Good lord. Those twins will be younger than their relatives 3 generations down(I'm not sure what you'd classify them as...their siblings' grandkids)
