I received one as a warranty replacement for a 200GB that I bought. The 250GB itself was just replaced as it also died. Good luck!

Funny, that you mentioned that fiasco. I received a few months ago a paperwork from the law company that launched a class action lawsuit against IBM because of their faulty 'Made in Hungary' drives. Well, to make the story short, in order to get anything out of that, I had to produce the original receipts of the purchase. I had 2 15GB drives I was holding in my hand, but the company, of course, did not accept the hardware as a proof. What kind of proof is that if I registered my drives with a post card when I bought them, otherwise how on Earth they would have my address to notify of the lawsuit! What a BS.

Since then Hitachi bought the IBM's consumer hard drive business, I bet they still have that darn factory in Hungary with low level quality control. So good luck. I'd look into drives with a 5 year warranty (some WD models carry it).

Price is up at outpost.com but today's Fry's B&M ad shows $109.99 - $40 MIR - $10 MIR = $59.99. Sale is only good 12/28/05 and 12/29/05 (I'm sure there'll be an equally hot sale in Friday 12/30 ad)

I have one or 2 in the 120-180 gig range. At least a yr now and no problems. Fairly quiet. Hard to say as I have a few different drives running together. All are either 5yr warr seagate or 3yr warr hitachi.

Yeah, I got the same thing... But all I too had was a 45 GB 75 GXP drive. I would have liked to have the 10% off a ThinkPad coupon.

Geez. I have some of those 15gb drives still in the factory sealed box...and I guess I'll never get any class action money out of them either, since I don't have the paperwork (think I got them from ValueAmerica...)

My Hitachi rebate came in reasonable time. (was for a 160gb from Outpost many months ago).

Kwad - ValueAmerica! Well, at least you only paid 50% of the then current cost..... :)

In addition to the various computer stuff from ValueAmerica (which has long since been replaced), I got some electric heaters and a ping-pong table that are still going strong. What a strange Christmas it was that year!!

Hey,
You want to sell one of them really cheap to me? :)
I need a cheap HD to build a computer for donation. I also need a cheap AGP card.
Thanks.
