So... I feel as helpless as can be right now, but for some reason I cannot figure out how to get the 5870 I'm using to output via HDMI. Here's the situation:

I have dual DVI displays that I normally use, and I want to be able to disable one of my dvi displays and start using HDMI (for watching movies on the TV). Is there an option in the Catalyst Control Center to do this? Also... I know that you can't output to both DVI and an HDMI at the same time, but does it matter which one gets disabled?

Disconnect one of the DVI and see what happen. You're going to have to play with it.

And you're right, you can only drive 2 displays at a time when using DVI/HDMI.

I use 2 ATI 5450. one for my TV via HDMI, one for my monitor via HDMI. Works great.

You may want to consider an additional video card for your TV, They are inexpensive.
