A) Is this the proper name?? Our family bought it like 5 years ago before i knew anything about anything, and the guy that built it told us it was a 586. it is a socket 5, what is the proper name?

B) When i try to install drivers for anything, it just turns off!! What is going on?? I says 'what is the location of the drivers' - and i tell it where to look, and the screen just goes blank and it restarts. What is going on???

thanks

Well.. in order to know exactly what CPU you have, you'll need to open up and see for yourself. It could be either a Intel Pentium, AMD K5, or Cyrix/IBM 5x86 or 6x86.

more than likely i think its a pentium. still, this doesn't solve the problem. what are you trying to install drivers for? i assume you have win95 or win98 ...

ya its win98
alright i'll check out the chip today, but thats correct, knowing the chip in no way solves the problem.

thanks

We'll need to know a few more specifics. What other hardware are you using? What are you trying to install drivers for? etc...
