They say "in stock" but right above that it also says "Non-refundable. Exchange for defective unit(s) only. Pre-ordering available & Estimate Delivery Time: beginning of October."

GOD I LOVE THIS

Exchange for defective unit(s) only

I know what they mean but that ain't what they said LOL

I hope they flood the market then N can come out with theirs and price wars in NOV....I can only hope

these things are better than xfired 4890's??? i guess if you need a single card solution... or DX11...

well when they first let out some info they were 4 times as fast as a 4870. Then it was 2x
Now we finally have some reviews and when you look at them they are about 30-50% faster (max difference) on some games.

Then to boot the price on this 'pre-order' is $20 higher than all the other brands and normal MSRP.

Well, when you look at it that way it's not really a worthwhile upgrade from a 4870. It's a great card if you're in the market for a new videocard. There are other things to consider besides speed, like efficiency, power consumption, noise level and most importantly (for Blu-Ray fans) the ability to bitstream HD lossless audio.

Of course I'm never in the habit of buying videocard on launch. For most it's never a good practice. But I do love these launches because the prices for older cards will drop in response.

Yeah well. I've seen people upgrade from 8800gt to 4870/GTX260 which is little less of a step than going from 4870 to 5850. Not to mention you get more features on top of dx11 like SSAA, angle dependent Aniso, eyefinity, better hdcp support.

who said it was 4x fast as 4870? So you believe rumors and speculations from fan boys before the card is released?

The reviews are all over the place now, even on Anandtech. Go read it!

I'll wait for the availability to stabilize and hopefully the price too. 🙂

Yeah, it appears to be double the performance of my current card in most games, the 4850.

So it's tempting to get, but I believe I'll wait, as there aren't really many games that demand such an overall in performance at 1680 x 1050 (or DX11).

It is competitive to a 4870x2 so two 4890's would be a little faster.
